“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012 via mobile

Overall an ok place, nothing really to complain too much about but this trattoria is really average and I'm struggling to understand some of the reviews. Prices are slightly above what the cuisine is worth but I guess for Venice it is ok. Don't get me wrong, you will have fairly decent food and atmosphere but it will be far from a memorable dinner.

“Totally ignored!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

Visited with my girlfriend on a Saturday evening. Restaurant half full, mainly locals by the looks. Upon entry, two elderly English couples stormed past us in furious bewilderment, having been told that the large, half empty restaurant was fully booked. We waited in full view of all staff for five minutes and were totally ignored, whilst staff served local customers. We walked out, the fifth and sixth customers they had alienated in a ten minute period!

“Great location, near Cima Rosa, locals hangout”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

We dined here the day we arrived in Venice on the train from Florence. We checked into the Cima Rosa and asked for their favorite places to eat. They sent us to the Mocenigo. What a nice find! It seemed to be full of locals and not "Rick Steves" book-toting tourists. The server seated and served us promptly, Food was excellent, wines were nicely chosen and the pitchers were good value for the money. We had very limited time in Venice, so we tried other restaurants, but I would go back here the next time we visited the city.
The restaurant is in a secluded spot, not near many touristy areas, which was fine for us.

“Good prices for Venice.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012 via mobile

House wine was great. Food was good but not great. Mixed meat platter was plain chicken breast and plain sirloin with some spuds. Pasta course excelled. The shrimp were fresh and sweet. Waiter(maybe owner) was kind of a grumpy in an entertaining yet uncomfortable way. Close to San Stae easy to find.

“Very good and great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

Osteria Mocenigo is right around the corner from the top rated Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo and together they form two-thirds of a great trio.

Osteria Mocenigo is a long narrow comfortable room with interesting decorated niches along the wall. The night we visited there seemed to be as many locals as tourists – a good sign in Venice. The owner and one other waiter handled the dining room and, although the restaurant was busy, service was friendly and professional. The owner found time to visit with each table for a few moments – a nice touch.

The food was very good – my wife had fish and I had pasta – both dishes were very good. The wine list is short but had good selections and reasonable prices.

We didn’t try desert as one of the best gelaterias in Venice, Gelateria San Stae is just steps away.

Dinner at Osteria Mocenigo, desert at Gelateria San Stea and then back to Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo - it doesn’t get much better.
