“A Hemingway Hangout is Tourist Filled”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

As long as you want to see many other tourists just like you, Harry's is the place for you. To enjoy a meal asking to be seated upstairs is helpful otherwise you get the foot traffic to the bar and upstairs passing you by frequently.

However since this is HARRY's Famous Bar - home of the true Peach Bellini, it is a must do once in your life if you are in Venice.

“A Dump”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Your first clue should be that you cannot see into the bar from the outside. When you enter, the room is small, the tables and chairs are shot, the ceiling is low. Thank God for slow service since it gave me time to realize this was not the sort of place where I wanted to spend 18 Euro for a martini even if Hemingway did get drunk there. If I am going to spend that kind of money, I will happily take the shuttle to the Skyline Bar at the Molino Stucky on Guidecca and enjoy the surroundings and service along with my drink

The worst rip off I have seen in Venice

“Really?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

We visited here with friends. The interior is probably what the owners would call 1930s retro, others might think it looks a bit dull. Nothing special.
Okay, Harry's Bar is a slice of Venetian history, but in a city imbued with history on every corner, do you really need to spend 70 euros on four bellinis?? There are more characterful (and cheaper) bars to be found.

“The classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Harry's is always Harry's, and that is a great comfort to those who have loved it over the years. The service is excellent, the food and drink superb. The consistency of various dishes over the years is a testament to the management of the place.

Don't come to Harry's if you're on a tight budget, or if you'd like to dine in shorts and a t-shirt. Do come to Harry's if you'd like a bit of timeless elegance, offered up without pomp or show. If you haven't a lot to spend, then come for a cocktail in the bar. It won't be cheap, but you'll find an ambience that has no price. And who knows, there's a good chance you'll run into the owner- I can guarantee he'll treat you like you'd been coming for ever.
