“Go for the atmosphere, stay for the food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We had a great time at Gam Gam - the food was especially for Venice very good. The Eggplant Lasagna is recommended as well as the Gam Gam special starter. Prices very reasonable. We had much more food and drink when compared to other restaurants and the bill was actually lower.
But you can't write a review of Gam Gam with out mentioning the lively atmosphere and friendly staff. It's a fun place and the staff while busy did their best to make us feel at home.
It is a popular place and tightly packed in (again this is Venice) so be prepared to sit close to your dining companions.

“Failure to Communicate”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Based upon the uniformly excellenr reviews on this site, I must assume that Gam Gam is a fine restaurant. However, someone at the establishment needs to instill a modicum of professionalism in their Internet/E Mail dealings. Because their reservation link on their website does not work, I emailed (to three different email addresses) a total of EIGHT emails requesting a reservation or at least information concerning how to make a reservation (and none of the messages bounced back as undeliverable). The restaurant opted to ignore all eight emails.
While I fully understand that the restaurant will continue to rposper, my family will not be among the customers. It seems absoltely incredible that a restaurant would display such disregard for overseas visitors who, in a friendly and respecyful manner, ask for a small amount of assistance.
If anyone knows the owners/managers of this restaurant, they might want to do them a big favor and pass along the fact that not only does their reservation system not work but their personnel see no need to respond to emails.

“Great food in a nice environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

This restaurant was a great surprise. The food was excellent, as well was the service. We took several dishes, some of them to share and we ended up having problems to finish everything.

The environment is very nice, the only problem is that they try to fit as many tables as possible and you fill a bit oppressed. The next table is just beside you and the waiters can almost not reach you.

The restaurant was crowded. Actually we went the day before to have dinner and it was already fully booked, so we had to wait for the next day. I would recommend to book it in advanced if you plan to go there a certain day.

The experience was very nice and we would go again if we had the occasion.

“Outstanding Variety of Healthy Mediterranean food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This our third visit to Gam-Gam and my husband and I look forward to it every year when we visit Venice. Mediterranean food is good for you and it is well done here in Cannaregio. The Israeli appetizer is excellent and we shared one. We tried the vegetarian pasticcio and moussaka along with latkes and applesauce. All were outstanding. The house white wine is very good as well. The atmosphere is inviting and the art on the walls interesting. The service is friendly and attentive and the prices are reasonable. We met an enchanting and beautiful young server, Pok, who speaks very good English for a Thai/Italian and she shared her story about living in Italy and spoke lovingly about her family--new twins have just arrived. Do not miss Gam-Gam when you visit Venice.
