“Worst experience in Italy!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Concierge Julian at the Hotel Concordia told us the restaurant where we wanted to dine was booked and made a reservation for us at Da Ivo. The food was so over priced compared to the other quality restaurants we had dined in. There were appetizers that were 70 euro. A full dinner for four with house wine would be approximately 600 euro. When we only ordered a main course and the house wine (the most expensive of the trip) we were totally ignored by the staff. The food was fair at best; I had the squid in ink which was extremely salty.

I wonder if the other restaurant was really booked solid?

“Good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Good restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff, good ambiance. Good wine list, the food is fairly well prepared but many dishes, such as figs and callamaretti, not really tasteful. Good ossobucco, but a little bit too much of peas. Good option, but do not expect surprises. Dame with risotti.

“One to be ADVOIDED”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

Recommended by Concierge Julian of the Hotel Concordia, the food was bad to fair and the service was disgraceful. Requests for drinks were ignored. They wanted the bill paid and table cleared for the next group. We were a group of six and not a good word from any of us.
The only memorable thing about this restaurant was the poor food and huge bill with a 75.30 euro service charge.
The concierge had organised a great evening boat trip and reservation to this awful restaurant which we felt obliged to stay even with the overpriced menu believing that we would be served quality food.
Go for the boat ride and they will return you back to the Hotel where you can then browse for a decent restaurant at your leisure.

“Overpriced and unconcerned staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We had made reservations to dine here a couple of nights in advance during our recent stay in Venice. We arrived early and the place was completely empty, it is a very small place. They only had two private tables with a view of the canal, all the others were literally within six inches of each other. Therefore we thought we were in luck with getting a great table. No such luck. We were escorted to a cluster of table in the back of the restaurant with absolutely no privacy. I know that a dining experience should be about the food, but we also expect privacy and a nice table. When we asked for a different table the guy simply said no and truly displayed that he could care less. We politely said that we weren't comfortable with the table and that we would look elsewhere. He said OK, turned his back to us and walked away. We eat out often and at very nice places. The prices here where extreme and we expected a decent table since we reserved early and there was no one in the place at 7 PM. We did leave and then found the best little restaurant with a great table directly on one of the canals.

“Total Experience is 5 stars +”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

Such a quaint, cozy place. Our waiter, Gionni, was very attentive and personable. Each of our meals was equally amazing. A highlight was the scropino which Gionni made from scratch right in front of us at our table! DE-LISH!! Also had minty chocolate ice scream squares and excellent grappa. I didn't want to leave! (we were there in February 2012 - I've just been slow to finally write all my postings).
