What a find...and what a spectacular team that works there. The location, the rooms and the service....all five stars. This is our fifth time in Venice and we have stayed at the Danielli and Gritti Palace.....this hotel is a great find.....and a great respite just the most comfortable distance from the maddening crowds. ......we'll be back!
Ringrazzio tutti voi per oespitalita e amicizia!

I will never forget our taxi boat ride from the train station to the door of our hotel for as long as I live. I felt like royalty.
We had a magic stay in one of the most magnificent places in the world. A fantastic hotel, handy to the vaporetto stop just outside the front door.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and our room overlooked the grand canal and gave us photos that we will treasure for years. The room was grand, as is the rest of the palazzo.
We only stayed one night but hope to return for a longer stay in the years to come.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the canal view.

The Palazzo Stern is impressive in so many ways. It's position on the Grand Canal makes it a perfect location from which to explore Venice. The hotel itself is a beautiful building, tastefully decorated. Our room was large, comfortable with good amenities. The staff are smart, friendly and efficient and eating breakfast on the terrace watching life go by on the Grand Canal is an amazing experience! My husband and I will definitely be back.

I'm so glad I picked this hotel, after trawling through Tripadvisor looking for something suitable.

Firstly, the location is second to none - right beside the vaporetto stop Ca' Rezzonico. We loved that we could just trip a few yards into the hotel after an exhausting day out.

Secondly, it's really convenient that the hotel has its own landing, so the water taxis pull right up outside (handy if you have tons of luggage, like we did!)

Thirdly, the hotel itself is absolutely beautiful inside. We were upgraded to a suite and loved the extra space that this provided. It only had a side canal view, but this didn't matter as the main terrace overlooked the Grand Canal and we had breakfast there every day (and Prosecco there a couple of evenings). We loved the luxury decorations in the room, from the padded silk wallpaper in the bedroom and living area to the mosaic tiling in the bathroom. We wandered around the hallways on the various floors and were amazed to find the top floor was almost like a chapel, with more mosaic tiling, and the most enormous Murano glass chandelier I have ever seen!

Only one downside - the pigeons on the terrace. Those little blighters were everywhere!

All in all, this hotel was the sort of boutique place that you dream about - far, far removed from the blandness of the corporate giants.

I would stay here again in a heartbeat....and probably will.

Room Tip: Don't kill yourself for a Grand Canal view - the other rooms with lesser views are equally nice.

What a find! I've been to Venice several times.. rented an apartment, and even stayed at the Gritti, but Palazzo Stern is where I will return next time. It's a grand place, but intimate. Our room was perfect (406), large, overlooking the Grand Canal, with a generous bathroom.
The staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet is more than generous, and you can eat on the very beautiful terrace while you plan your day. Or have a glass of Proseco in the evening.
The vaporetto stop is just steps from the door.

Room Tip: Rooms in front face the grand canal.

Lovely hotel and great location. Right on Grand Canal, next to vaporetta stop, yet in a quieter area of Venice where locals still live. We had room 405 with balcony and it was wonderful being able to sit outside a watch Venice life pass by. We pre booked a water taxi from and to the airport and although expensive( 200 euros for two return ), worth every penny. It is also worth buying a vaporetta pass at the airport as they not only cover trips along the Grand Canal, but to the islands on the lagoon as well and travelling on them is really easy and fun. Eating in Venice is expensive ,but cheaper and very pleasant in the area around the hotel and the staff give very good advice and will book for you.The hotel has their own boat which you can book to take you to Murano island and the glass making factory which is well worth doing. They don't charge for this, but you have to make your own way back which is very easy. We then took the large water bus on to Burano .

Thank you to all the staff at Hotel Palazzo Stern who were always helpful and cheerful. A wonderful holiday!

Room Tip: Rooms on Grand Canal are more expensive but are large with fantastic views and we loved being able t...

The hotel is located in a very beautiful old palazzo directly on the Grand Canal. The lobby and stairwell to the rooms are beautiful and there is even a small old chapel on the second floor. There are 24 rooms and we chose a junior suite (306) which was elegant and spacious and with three windows with a grand view of the Grand Canal.

The only slight negative is that there was some motor noise from the vaporetti arriving and departing from the Ca Rezzonico vaporetto stop which is located steps away from the hotel. The vaporetti do not run all night so there was no problem sleeping but the low vibrating noise during the day and early morning, although not loud, got a bit bothersome after a while. Still it was worth it to have the fabulous view. Also having the vaporretto stop so close was a great convenience for travelling around the city.

We found the staff at the front desk of the hotel friendly and helpful and tried hard, however, we did find their recommendations for restaurants were fairly limited and they failed to let us know when they were unable to get a reservation we had requested in a nearby restaurant. There is a wonderful lounge/bar that sits directly on the Grand Canal at the front of the hotel and we restored ourselves a few times there with a glass of good Italian red wine while viewing the activity on the Grand Canal. You could also have breakfast there if the weather suited.

We loved the location. The hotel is located in Dorsoduro just up from the Academia bridge which was nice as it was much quieter than San Marco and yet convenient for getting to other parts of the city via vaporetti or by foot.

Overall we would definitely return to this hotel although we might choose a quieter room and forego the view on our second visit.

Buongiorno!

Thank you for your very kind review.

Vaporetti are VERY big and loud unfortunately. Everywhere in Venice if you are close to Grand Canal you can hear a little noise even if you have soundproof windows like us.
Most of the people doesn't have any trouble with them, but if you are a very light sleeper let us know, we will book a room overlooking the backside to avoid the issue.

If sorry if we fail to let you know about a not possible reservation, unfortunately we don't have all the guests telephone numbers and it's hard sometimes to let them know in advance that the table is not available if they are not in the hotel.

I hope to have the chance to welcome you again here in Venice, have a great day!
