“Excellent Bed & Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

Stayed here 35rd to 25rd february 2012 right in the middlle of the Rialto district and 2 minutes from the Rialto bridge. excellent value for money and the owner Paolo was very friendly and helpfull. We had to share the bathroom but it was not an issue and although the shower head was needing repaired it was still usable. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would book again next time we go to Venice

We stayed here during the carnival and the location was great, just a few minutes from Rialto bridge. The directions are very clear so it was easy to find and the rooms are spacious and clean.
It does have a shared bathroom with a pretty naff shower for the 3 rooms but it was very clean and we didn't have any problems having to wait to use it.
The staff were very friendly - we called them when we arrived and they were there to let us in in 5 minutes so next time we will call them when we get to the Rialto bridge!
A basic breakfast is served in your room - lovely fresh coffee and a couple of croissants and yoghurts. There are so many bakeries and pizzerias around that you can go and grab something else very easily.
All in all, great value for money and we will definitely stay here again when we come back to Venice.

Large, Clean and comfortable rooms in the heart of the city for a very reasonable price. Its easy to find and owners are friendly. The only downside was that the shared bath room was shared between all the rooms and the shower was faulty when we were there. The breakfast is served in your room, and although adequate its very basic and wouldn't take much to make it really nice! I would stay here again because of the location and the lovely rooms!

This place is great for the price, right in the heart of Venice.. They were not there when we arrived but a quick call and we were let in within 10 mins... Theres only 3 rooms but they are large, the furniture is a little old But soo is Venice.....
Overall really good spot, 5- 10 mins walk from the Rialto bridge ferry stop, the hardest part was lugging the bags over the bridge... But once settled it was easy to just stroll around the streets and alleys.
Breakfast as basic but filling and if ur still hungary after theres always plenty of pizza shops round the cnr..
The only downfall was the shared bathroom, But for 3 nights we adapted and enjoyed Venice and all it has to offer....
Overall i wouldnt hessitate to return to this lil B & B...........

Room Tip: The only tip i could give would be..... Due to the smallness of teh B&B the owners arent there...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2011

We stayed here for 4 nights in August. The place was easy enough to find using the instructions provided (I recommend buying a map for reassurance though).

The room we had (room 1) was huge - nice comfy bed, a fold-out bed as well (doubling as a lounge) as well as a table (where breakfast was served) and also TV & Fan. The only drawback was that it was very hot when we were there, and the Fan wasn't quite enough to keep us cool - air conditioning is a must in that heat/humidity.

Breakfast was ordinary but not inedible as suggested by other reviewers - I think the breakfast is offset by the great location and also that you can get pastries etc. downstairs very close to the BnB.

The staff were fantastic and very friendly and helpful.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for value for money in Venice, and I would stay there again - although would very much appreciate air conditioning next time around!

Room Tip: Ask for room 1. Also close both the blinds and the windows - they block out all the noise.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2011

We stayed at Santa Sofia B&B for 2 nights arriving in the afternoon and no one there. Luckily there was a phone number beside the buzzer, we called this number from a local store and waited 20 minutes for someone to arrive. With only 3 rooms on a 2nd floor - there is not always someone there.
The room was clean and very basic, decent furniture and room overlooking other buildings. Shared bathroom down the hall very clean. Biggest problem was the breakfast - packaged croissant - and packaged melba toast, coffee that tasted bad and yogurt flavors that were not appealing. You are provided a tray to sit in at your coffee table. The 2nd day we declined breakfast and went down to the alley below and walked 1-2 minutes to a great cafe with a freshly baked Croissant, fresh squeezed orange juice and large cafe au lait for 6 euro per person.
The location was perfect - right by the rialto bridge - shops and very central walking distance to everything. Also had free wifi that worked better than any other location on our trip.

Room Tip: Choose the room at the back beside the kitchen and it does not back on to the noisy alley.

Truly an awful experience. Stayed two nights. We had extra guests staying with us for one night that I made the B&B aware of months in advance and we were told it would be 20euro a person, but when we arrived, they doubled the price for the guests. Also we were told that we were getting a private bathroom which was not even possible. The managers/owners were rude suggesting that if we did not like it, we can go somewhere else, knowing full well all of Venice would be booked, essentially meaning; bend-over and like it.
Avoid at all costs.
