“Great budget hotel in Venice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

For anyone who has researched hotel prices in Venice, Hotel Dalla Mora provides a great price! The hotel is simple, quiet and clean. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was rolls and coffee. It's not gourmet, but it's nice to get something in your belly before heading out into Venice. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a good location. We left Piazzale Roma from the southeast corner and had to cross only 3 bridges with our bags to get there. It was certainly manageable. We retraced our steps the next day to get back to P. Roma and board the People Mover to get to our cruise ship.
We traveled in early October, and we slept with the window open. It was perfect. We were in the main hotel on the ground level with our window directly on the canal, and the soft noises of the water and boats as the city woke up was great (room 2, I think). If you were wanting to sleep in, our room might have been a bit noisy. We were eager to get out and see Venice, so it was perfect for us.
The in-room bathroom, was small, but clean and adequate. A larger person might have some trouble in the shower. The room is also pretty small, but with Venice at your door, who cares about hotel room space?!? There was room under the bed for our bags and a chair and some side tables in the room. Being on the ground floor, I was surprised that I didn't see any evidence of flooding damage. It was very clean.
We loved our stay, and wouldn't hesitate to return. We hope we have a chance to stay there again someday!
If you are a practical traveler who wants somewhere safe and clean to lay your head at night, and don't want to pay for lots of extra amenities that you won't use, Dalla Mora is for you.

Room Tip: Room 2 in the main hotel is right on the canal and beautiful!

I have stayed at this hotel twice now, once in 2010 and also this year. Its is a lovely place to stay, close enough to walk to all tourist attractions but far enough away from the grand canal so it is pretty quite and peaceful at night-time. It is easily walking distance (with luggage) from Santa Lucia station as well as the main bus terminus. The owners are both lovely and very helpful. There is a computer to access the internet for free whenever you like and the breakfast is adequate. This place is great value for money and I will stay there again if I ever get back to Venice!

Lovely Hotel situated in a perfect location.

We booked the canal view room and was about a meter from the water at the window.

gondolas would pass during the day singing etc which made for a great atmosphere.

The rooms now have air conditioning so you can close the windows at night if worried about mosquitoes etc. plus its nice to have a cool room when its hot.

Reception staff were a little cold, they did the job but didn't offer anything more.

walls were also paper thin, could here people talking.

apart from that, the hotel is great value, excellent location, and just nice.

Would recommend and stay here again next time in venice.

Room Tip: when booking ask for canal view room

By Venice standards, the Hotel Dalla Mora is pretty good value. We had a room with a private bathroom and a canal view, which was delightful. The room was small, and the bathroom miniscule, but, with Venice to explore, who cares? We also had the added bonus of being next to the communal terrace with the same canal view as our room which provided the perfect place to put our feet up and relax after a day out and about, before getting ready for dinner.

Location-wise, if you want to be within spitting distance of St Marco’s, then this is not for you. However, it is easily walkable from the hotel, and the Dalla Mora has the added advantage of being in a delightfully quiet neighbourhood, with no hoards of daytrippers trooping through. It was lovely to leave the crowds behind in St Marco’s and find a quiet, peaceful Venice. It’s easy walking to the foodie haven around the Rialto area and in the opposite direction, the restaurants and bars of Dorsoduro. It’s also an easy walk to Piazzale Roma and the train station. This meant on our first afternoon, we walked to Piazzale Roma, caught the 1 vaporetti the length of the Grand Canal to get a great overview of the city. We then took a slow walk back, exploring different areas on the way. For us, the location was perfect.

Breakfast is continental in style but perfectly nice. Croissants, rolls, juice and tea or coffee. It’s an Italian hotel with an Italian breakfast! The owners are charming and everything is spotless. In short, for a good value break in Venice, you can’t go far wrong with this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the canal view

We stayed here for a couple nights at the end of our Slovene holiday. The hotel is quite basic, but is quite easy to get to from the bus drop off which is a major perk (You don't want to be hauling luggage across Venice streets with the masses of tourists bumping into you!) Also, the hotel is located on a side street overlooking a rather quiet canal which provides a nice respite from the otherwise rather busy city. The 2nd floor common balcony overlooking the canal made for a pleasant location for pre-dinner drinks each night. Overall, Dalla Mora is a solid choice if you're in Venice.

We stayed here for a few nights and requested a canal view room. Throughout the day we would see gondolas come through and even a few singing ones. It was fun to feel like you were part of Venice by looking out your window and seeing the sights, sounds, and smells of Venice.

The hotel staff was a little brisk, not overly helpful by any means. They did their job but didn't offer any extra information or tips like we were used to in other places throughout Italy. So that was kind of a bummer.

The breakfast was nice, croissants, bread, cheese, jam, coffee, tea, etc. It was enough to get us on our feet in the morning.

It's also in a decent location. Walking distance from the train station. Maybe a 45 minute walk to St. Marks and 30 min to the Rialto Bridge if you don't get lost. The Frari church feels like it is just around the corner and it is a must see.

For the price you can't beat this place. We would stay here again.

This hotel is quite basic but more than adequate and good value in what can be an expensive city. The location is excellent being close to the bus terminus, the railway station and a stop for the vaporetto. It is in a quiet little lane but close to restaurants and other attractions. The brothers who own it both speak english and are willing to assist with all sorts of queries. Single rooms are quite small, doubles as a single much better.
