“Amazing find in Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

It was a real struggle to find a nice affordable place in Venice so I couldn't believe my luck when we found this hotel. We stayed in the more expensive double room with canal view and it's own bathroom but compared with other places in Venice this was a real bargain for 105 euro a night. The room was surprisingly large and the bathroom nice and spacious modern and clean with lots of natural light. The canal view was lovely and even tho there was no air con there was a fan and lots of windows. The hotel is in a perfect location an easy walk to the train station and outside of the touristy areas so you can enjoy some peaceful streets and still walk to both bridges easily. But what was also fantastic about this hotel was the owner and staff. Never have I met such a lovely relaxed friendly hotel owner it was a pleasure everyday they are just so nice and laid back it really was the cherry ontop! I would recommend this in a heartbeat to anyone looking for a good value room in Venice we could not have been happier!

We stayed at this hotel mid June 2012. We arrived at night and had our fun lugging our luggage from the train station to the hotel (over the stepped bridges which are very high and cobblestoned streets). It was quite an adventure but we got there in the end. The hotel is located strategically in the heart of venice in a lovely location right near the restaurants and local shops. The actual hotel is located with a canal frontage and down a lane way from one of the main walking avenues.

The hotel is well presented and we found it with ease (tip keep a map very handy as Venice is like a giant maze!). We were assigned a ground level room for twin share and we were very delighted that it had canal frontage out to a sunny open expanse. Out our windows we had the most wonderful view of the suorroundings along the canal and also locals carrying out their business.

The hotel interior is what you would expect from this genre of hotel, clean and presentable. Obviously you would not expect all the extras, but for simple easy accomodation this place is definately the way to go. Our room had a decent bathroom and amneties.

The breakfast we had isn't really a breakfast. Its more like morning tea, you get some yoghurts, toast and tea/coffee / juice. It's good for the price but I would go out afterwards in the Venetian marketplace to have a more hearty meal.

Overall the hosts of the hotel were very good and there is even a free laptop you can use with internet access (free of charge) to hotel users. The reception are is full of information and brochures on venice and the hosts of the accomodation have no qualms to answer your questions. We had a great stay and expecially for Venice as accomodation is often in the 400 price range. Would definately recommend staying here for its service, value and location.

Room Tip: Try get the room next to the canal on the first or 2nd floor.

My partner chose Hotel Dalla Mora for our Venice stay and I will be honest and say I was skeptical because of the most affordable price for a hotel in Venice with a canal view and the 'one star rating'.
We absolutely loved our stay here and it was definitely enhanced by our beautiful canal view room and super friendly staff.
Rooms are simple but comfortable with a clean private bathroom and airconditioning.
Breakfast was included - simple European breakfast of tea/coffee, bread, crossiants, cheese, spreads.
Overall, compared to the other 3/4 star rated hotels in Europe - this is still a favourite which we will be staying in again :)

Room Tip: Ask for the canal view room (includes own bathroom)

Hotel Dalla Mora is very well situated for proximaty to the main train station and for walking to the major sites. We had a room with a sink and shower in the room and a shared toilet on the floor. Four rooms shared the toilet (which also has a shower). We never had to wait to use the toilet room even though the hotel was fully booked. The room was basic in regard to decor. It was pleasantly spacious, windows that opened for fresh air and a view of the canal. The shower cubical had sufficient space for a comfortable shower and the water pressure was very good. The bed mattress was comfortable and on the soft side. We slept very well each night with the window open so noise was never an issue. Very quiet.

Breakfast is European and consisted of croissants, buns, cheese, jams, juice, coffee and tea. The coffee is good and is served to each table along with the bread basket. Guests help themselves to the condements. The brekfast room attendants are very friendly and accommodating.

The terrace was a much appreciated bonus! We returned to the hotel each afternoon to have a break from sightseeing to relax, enjoy a beverage and watch people, boats and gondolas along the canal below.

We submitted an inquiry for rates and availability and recieved a response from the hotel very quickly. It was a very easy booking process. We printed the map that is on the hotel website which has the way to walk from the train station to the hotel clearly indicated on it. The distance is not far and the walkways have flat surfaces which helps pulling ones luggage. There are steps that one must go up and down on the bridge, etc. But everyone has to deal with that in Venice.

There is a pizza restaurant just by the hotel. We were very dispointed with the quality of the food and the prices for such poor quality product. There is a decent Osteria across from the pizza place which is enjoyable. Down the road past these two restaurants is a very good eatery called Impronta Cafe. Modern decor with very good quality food at good prices! To the left of the two restaurants is a small cafe where one can have an espresso, etc. and not be charged extra for sitting outside and the prices for coffees are cheap.

The hotel is owned and managed by two brothers. Between the two of them the hotel is manned 24 hours a day. The main door is always locked. Guests just press the buzzer to the left of the door and they will let you inside. They are both very friendly and helpful. We mostly interacted with Francesco and greatly enjoyed his hospitality and services.

Venice is a very expensive city and hotels during in peak season are unreasonably high. The Hotel Dalla Mora is a very affordable option that we recommend and would return to again. The clientele during our stay were mostly mature couples and mature individuals. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their stay.

What a fantastic place to stay while in Venice. Not only were the rooms amazingly priced but the canal views were amazing. Rooms were very clean, airy and comfortable. Hotel was in a great location, about a five minute walk from the grand canal. I will definitely be staying here when i come back to Venice! :)

We stayed for two tonights in room 5. We had a canal view with cold air conditioning and a terrace right outside our room. I will advise you that the walls are thin and the locks and handles on doors make a lot of noise. But for 105 euros this place is a steal! 5 minute walk to the bus station, 7 minute walk to the train station and also very close to water taxis. Very close to lively night life. Hotel doesn't have amazing amenities, there was no hair dryer and just soap. But it's just what we needed for 2 nights. We never made it down to breakfast so I can't speak of it. The man that checked us in was the same every day and night. He was very friendly and helpful. He didn't speak much English but tried really hard to answer our questions and even pulled up google translator when he couldn't understand. That was surprising and very nice!

Nice quiet area close to the train station and away from the tourist noise elsewhere.

The rooms are simple, basic and clean but the location is ideal. Our room overlooked the canal - classic Venice. It's close to the Piazza Roma vaporetto station which would take you anywhere in Venice quickly.
Breakfast is basic and good.

A terrace on top is great for a relaxing cup of coffe.

A little glass blowing shop around the corner offers well priced glass crafts for sale.

Considering the exorbitant prices Venice this hotel is good value and all you need.
