“Great Small Hotel in Venice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

This is a great hotel in a very good location with an outstanding staff and excellent service. This was our first trip to Venice and we managed to stumble into this great hotel.

We took the orange line from the airport to the Rialto stop. If you do that, turn right as you get off the dock, make the first left down a very small street, when you get to the plaza look to your right and you will se the hotel.

The staff was a joy to work with. Questions were answered, directions given, maps explained, wi-fi and telephones explained, all with enthusiasm. When having breakfast, special requests were accomkodated if at all possible. We did not eat in the restaurant, and it was not warm enough to even look for a pool.

If it is your first time in Venice, be prepared to get lost. Even with the help of the staff, we managed to get lost twice in three days. The city is not laid out in a grid. Don't be afraid to ask directions. It helps that the Rialto bridge is very near the hotel.

A great place to stay in Venice. A 2 minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, where there is lots of activity both alongside the Grand Canal and on the water. You are close to the water bus (Vaporetto) stop, which will take you almost anywhere in Venice. You are also just a few minutes walk from many interesting Piazza's, shops, restaurant's and places to visit, including San Marco.
It is a deluxe hotel with luxury accommodation and friendly, helpful staff. The buffet breakfast is plentiful and good.

What a beautiful Hotel, we stayed in 10 hotels over a period of 5 weeks in April throughout Italy, Greece and France, a La Commedia hit the top of the list. Its a lovely hotel without being over the top, every comfort feature you could ask for and the staff just wonderful. The beds very comfy, the rooms clean and spacious, breakfast was delightful. Even our 10 year old son has named this his "best Eva" hotel. Perfectly located to all the main highlights of Venice, I highly recommend a La Commedia and would like to thank the staff for doing such a wonderful job.

We stayed at A La Commedia for 4 nights and we can only praise this hotel. The room was very nice and quiet even if it was looking on a street. It was nicely decorated, very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom is also almost perfect with all the usual amenities except for the body cream but after all it is not a 5 star :-). The staff were very polite, friendly adn always ready to help. The gave us good suggestions for dining. The breakfast was also excellent. It would be difficult to find a better location and we took great advantage of it.

We absolutely loved this hotel. We received a free suite upgrade. The bathroom is very large! Only problem was my grandfather had slight problem getting into shower. The tub wall is very high. The rooftop bar is amazing and open till midnite. Our bartender nicholas introduced me to my now favorite cocktail with Muddled raspberries mmmm. Location of the hotel is convenient to everything. Approx 2mins to rialto and grand canal. Piazza san marco is close to a 5-7 min walk.

We had a really great 3 night stay here. The staff were extremely helpful, the accommodation of a high standard and the location ideal for exploring the heart of Venice. Although you can get breakfast at the hotel, it doesn't have evening dining, but that's not really an issue as there are plenty of great places to eat around and about. Reception will offer to book any trips and transfers etc, but we found it cheaper simply to look online, or wonder round. E.g a 1 hour Gondola trip arranged via the hotel was 120 euros, we wondered a little out of Saint Marks square (into the Castello district) and got a wonderful hour long Gondola ride along some of the most tranquil and picturesque canals for 80 euros. Beds were v comfy and firm, bathroom and facilities were good, although there were no tea and coffee making facilities.

The hotel was in a superb location for all the sites. Close to the Rialto Bridge and the San Marco Square. Shops are right at your door step and the bus stop is about a 2 min walk away. Ideal for whoever wants to experience the Venice life in a short space and for those who are lucky enough to stay longer than I was able to. Staff were more than helpful and the rooms were spacious and well equiped with everything you will need for a comfortable stay. Highly recommended.
