We have just returned from 3 wonderful nights in Venice staying at the a la Commedia. We can only agree with the other reviews of this hotel and say that it is trully fantastic. The standard of our deluxe room was very high with a superb marble bathroom with rain-fall style shower and deep bath. The turn down and maid services were excellent with chocolates left on our bed each evening. We also had a nice little balcony above the bustling street below. The staff were very attentive and knowledgable and the hotel have trips organised to Murano (the glass island) which is free and a shared gondola ride for which there is a charge. The bar area is small but nice and the buffet continental breakfast has lovely chocolate croissants and home made museli. Again the staff in both the bar and at breakfast were extremely friendly. They even gave me a bag of biscuits on my birthday which was a lovely touch. There isn't a lot more we can add that the others reviews don't cover. You will not be dispapointed if you book to go here.
Venice is a wonderful enchanting city with lots to see and do and lots of places to eat to suit all budgets. Things to be aware of are that it is very busy with tourists of all nationalities. It is also very expensive. We paid on average 7.5 euros (£6.15) for less than a pint of beer and 5 euros (£4) for a cup of tea. You won't find anything much cheaper than that in the city. Meals can be expensive also but there are many options.
