“Sandra and Leonardo know how to run a B & B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

Sandra's B&B is located wonderfully: nearby the railway station + lots of main venues; in a crowded city it's an amazing quiet place; you feel at home immediately.

The hospitality of Leonardo and Sandra is amazing; the room (we had the attic with terrace) a delight, and the breakfast a fest.

Lucky is he who manages to combine the attic-apartment with the other wonders of Venice.

We enjoyed three wonderful nights at Sandra and Leonardo's beautiful bed and breakfast, and would love to have stayed longer. Venice was a highlight of our trip and part of the reason for that was delightful stay at Sandra Bed and Breakfast. Our family of three stayed in the Attic Room, while friends who joined us in Venice stayed in a room on the main floor. Both had beautiful ensuite bathrooms, classic furnishings and luxuriously comfortable bedding. A feature of the attic is a rooftop veranda, with stunning views - which we made good use of complete with vinos. The only thing to be mindful of with the attic is the roofline and beams - you wouldn't want to be super tall. I am 5ft 11'' and coped fine. Sandra and Leonardo are wonderful hosts and are glad to help travellers with information and advice on where to eat etc. They also put on a delightful European-style breakfast each morning, complete with fresh baking each day. Sandra also puts cake your room for afternoon tea. We found the location ideal. It was an easy and cheap (7 euro) water bus ride from Piazalle Roma and then a 10 minute walk (even with luggage) to the B and B, which is just back from main lane, with shops and restaurants, and yet nestled in a quiet spot overlooking the canals. It is only about 15 minutes to get to St Mark's Square and the heart of Venice's tourist area. We were there in October (considered late in the tourist season) and found it a great time to go - comfortable temperatures and not too busy. A wonderful first visit to Venice, and hopefully not the last. We would definitely stay with Sandra and Leonardo again. We loved Cabbie (one of their cats) too.

We stayed at Sandra and Leonardo's other property called La Casetta. (apologies for the review under Sandra BnB). It too was a wonderful property with beautiful architecture, an attic room (awesome!), and fantastic views. Runs inbetween and parallel to Strada Nova and the Fondamenta della Misericordia, both a main 'road', and has some excellent restaurants, a supermarket, and a bottleshop within 100 metres. (thanks for the advice Leonardo!) Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We stayed at this B&B for 1 night in September and we loved it. The location is not perfect but everything else is.. The host was very friendly, the service was great and the breakfast delicious. Our room was clean, big and comfortable and we payed less than at any other B&B but received a first class room with first class service.. It is close enough to everything and only 5 min from the nearest boat station.. Thank you for your hospitality. Hope to see you again!!

Sandra is a delightful hostess and her breakfasts are very good. She and her husband provide a very pleasant environment. They have 2 resident cats that pretty much just lay on a couch or chair. We reserved the Attic Room and were not disappointed. It is huge; there are 2 sitting areas, a very comfortable bed, a good-size bathroom and a wonderful balcony. Sandra provides an electric hot pot for hot tea and coffee. The balcony is reached via a steep staircase and it is great to stand up there and watch the myriad of boats go by. Venice is wonderful and staying in the Attic Room at Sandra B&B only enhances the experience. Be sure to read the information provided in the rooms as it includes great tips for visiting Venice including going to the wine seller to purchase wine. Just a hint - watch your noggin in the attic room near the low end of the walls, however, once you hit your head, you'll be careful enough not to do it the second time.

We stayed the 5th time (or was it the sixth?) at Sandra´s B&B. We enjoyed again a whole week of their wonderful hospitality and felt like home again. Back home now we´re dreamin of Sandra´s fantastic breakfast every day. Of course we want to come back! German readers: If you want to read more on this wonderful location, ask your local bookstore for our Venice-Picture-Book that was just published by Swiss Brunnen Verlag Basel; the title "Venedig - dem Himmel so nah!). We can it that also this way: Sandra´s B&B - so near to heaven! Sandra & Leonardo, Picci & Cabi - we love you! Elizabeta & Georg

We stayed with Sandra and Leonardo and their cats, Picci and Cabi for four days in September and had such an enjoyable time with them. Lovely people, so welcoming and very helpful. The cats were the reason we booked this particular B&B. A home from home!

Sandra’s breakfasts were amazing. Freshly squeezed orange juice, a fruit platter which was an artwork in itself, yogurts, meats and cheeses, bread and jams, a different savoury dish each day eg a cheesy roulade, croissants stuffed with ham and tomato, fantastic ‘muffins’ made with squash and cheese. Best of all were the cakes. Every evening Sandra baked a cake for breakfast and when we came home in the afternoon there were a couple of slices waiting for us in our bedroom.

It was just a little noisy in the early morning with heavy barges arriving with building materials for a nearby renovation project but it didn’t put us off.

One word of advice would be to avoid central Venice at the weekends – just too busy but Canareggio was a haven of peace with a lovely buzz and some great places to eat.
