“Lovely in a quiet neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

The B & B is up 3 flights of stairs so be ready. The room was small but bed was comfortable and bathroom had nice shower.

The location is excellent, quiet and a short walk from everything.

The breakfast had hot food as well as pastries, fruit, good coffee served in a lovely little room.
The price was reasonable and the staff friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: only saw our own room so i do not know

This B&B is a 5 minute walk from everywhere - the location is great! The rooms & bathroom, though a little dated, where clean & sufficient. The breakfast was great & breakfast room was very cute. The staff were always around to answer questions & were very helpful. A great find if you are looking for a good quality/price B&B!

I have stayed at Ca’Riccio every year for over 5 years. Why do I keep coming back?

LOCATION
Ca’Riccio is located in a quiet part of the city, so one can get the sense for how the local population live. Yet, it is close to San Marco, close to Rialto, and very close to Fondamenta Nova. I enjoy finding short cuts, but you need a map to find the hotel, and to get around Venice in general. The real Venice is for people who like to explore. Ca’Riccio sets you on that path.

THE BUILDING
Yes, the hotel is on the second level, and yes there are stairs. If you are going to gripe about the stairs, then don’t visit Venice. Anywhere you walk it’s up and down the bridges. That is part of the charm of the city. If you want an elevator or lift, go to a plush hotel, and pay the exorbitant prices. I like the location of Ca’Riccio, and the prices.

PEOPLE
I like the friendly greeting when I arrive. Then they leave you alone. This hotel does not have a “reception desk,” and in the afternoon and evening there is no one to help. But, if you need help there is a phone in your room – call the owners, they live nearby and will help you out. If you need a valet, butler, footman , doorman and a concierge, go elsewhere. Ca’Riccio is for people who don’t need pampering 24/7.

ROOM
The room is comfortably furnished. I like the fridge and the nice little bathroom, it is small, but spotless. Lots and lots of towels, too. The bed is comfortable. The TV controls are awkward, but read the instructions, then it’s easy. I also notice improvements every year. Lidia Riccio and her husband Giampaolo care about making their hotel the best for the amazing price. I feel at home every time I visit.

BREAKFAST
The breakfast is excellent. I enjoy a hearty, warm breakfast, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, yoghurt, you get it all, lots of choices, all served with a smile. I’m a seasoned annual traveler to Europe. For a small hotel in Italy (or France, for that matter) I find that Ca'Riccio breakfasts are a stand-out value.

We spent a nice couple of days at this wonderful, cozy and welcoming hotel as we were visiting our friend's wedding in Venice. The location is perfect, the staff is very hospitable and the rooms are superb. If we were ever to go back, we'd definitely go back there!

If you're looking for a cheap, clean hotel in an excellent location for the water bus then look no further.

Rooms and breakfast are awesome!

Staff are all friendly and bend over backwards to help - you even get given a city map of Venice with the hotel's location marked off.

Rooms are cleaned daily and fresh towels provided every morning.

Can HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

Stayed for two nights during a brief trip to Venice. Room was great with comfortable bed, mini fridge, table/chairs and a couch. Very good size. Bathroom was clean also. They give you directions on how to get to the B&B and it includes pictures to make it easy. We used these directions and were at the B&B half an hour after getting off the train. Location is in a nice quiet part of Venice but still only 10 minutes walk from the sites. My only two negative points about the B&B would be the weak Wi-Fi connection which dropped out almost all the time and the shower which seemed to have a leak coming out which effected the water pressure as most of the water would come out the leak rather than the shower.

My husband and I stayed I room number 1 for three nights. The room was not large by American standards but was more than large enough to accommodate a brief trip. It was elegantly decorated, with exposed wood beams in the bathroom. everything was exceptionally clean, the mattress was comfortably firm, and the area stayed very quiet at night so we were able to sleep very peacefully. The bathroom was again very clean, although we couldn't really figure out how to keep the water from spraying all over the floor so we resorted to showers with the handheld nozzle sitting down in the tub. We never could figure out the tv but there was free wifi included. Other reviews of the breakfast bar is part of what sold us on this hotel, and it didn't disappoint. We got yogurt, eggs, meats, cheeses, pastries, fruit, and more to choose from every day. You'll need the fuel for all the walking in Venice! I really enjoyed the location of the hotel but it is not for everyone. It was about a ten minute walk from the Rialto bridge, near touristy areas but actually in the more residential Canareggio neighborhood. To our tastes, we like to get away from the touristy areas and if you like that to we recommend a walk though the residential areas of Canareggio, particularly near the Jewish ghetto. Those walks were some of the best parts of our trip.
