“A peace haven in the San Polo district”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2010

Booking a room suitable for our family of 5 is not an easy task and Oltre Il Giardino was a great find!

We were offered the 'Ecru Suite' which is located in the hotel annex, literally a couple of steps away from the main building. This suite is brand new (opened a month ago I was told), spacious (approx 80 sq meters) and composed of a living room, a master bedroom (both with a view over a small canal), a second bedroom with 2 single beds (a rollaway bed was placed in the living room for our third kid), ample storage space and 2 smallish but very convenient bathrooms equipped with shower. Other amenities include a mini bar, air conditioning, flat screen TVs in each room, bathrobes and slippers, wonderful Bulgari bath products... We found the Ecru Suite to be spotless clean and very tastefully decorated.

Buffet breakfast was included in the rate (plate of ham and cheese, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal, rolls, pastries and refills of hot drinks) and can be taken in the hotel lobby or in the lovely 'secluded' garden.

Every member of staff we met was extremely helpful and friendly. This charming hotel will definitely be our home away from home for our future trips to Venice!

A superb boutique hotel right in the heart of Venice. Located along a quiet side-canal but still only 5mins walk to the Rialto. Beautifully decorated throughout and kept in pristine condition. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a tasty spread and eating it in the garden is great way to start the day. Well worth paying that little bit extra for.

We stayed at Oltre il Giardino for three nights as part of our honeymoon. We were very happy with the hotel, the service was excellent and always friendly, breakfast is included and it was fresh and more substantial than our other Italy hotels, including different hams and cheeses as well as fresh pastries etc.
The location is completely perfect, far enough away from the bustle of the Venice hotspots but still an easy, short walk to everywhere. It's really very central on the main islands and everything is close by. It's very quiet and feels more like the 'real' Venice. We slept soundly.
Our suite was lovely, simple, clean, separate shower and bath, small clothes closet with safe and mini fridge. If we return to Venice, we'll stay here for sure. Book it now!

We had the most relaxing holiday and this really is the best hotel in Venice that we have stayed in - lovely staff, peace and quiet, made to feel so welcome. Loved the garden - even in November we could sit out. We have booked again for November and I really can't wait.

We stayed 3 nights in the junior suite. Wow, this place is gorgeous. The staff was extremely helpful (thank you Emanuele), the room was spotless everyday, breakfast was top of the line, and the garden area is perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing.

This is the third time I have stayed in Venice and this is by far the best place I have stayed in! We stayed in the ground floor suite with the outside terrace. It was a lovely room and there was nothing chintzy about it (something quite hard to achieve in Venice so it seems from past experience). The reason I have rated it a 4 for the room was that the bathroom floor was wet on arrival (looked like a potential spill-over from the shower), there was a slightly tired looking shower curtain and there were a couple of stains on items of furinture. Granted these are not big issues at all and the overall feel of the room was great but perhaps it was not quite up to standard for the price we paid. Other than that our stay was perfect. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts delightful. It was a real oasis from the hustle and bustle of Venice. If i returned to Venice, I would definitely stay here.

I stayed with my wife and 2 childrens (ages 12 and 14) for a few nights. The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful with all aspects of our stay. I don't speak much Italian, but the concierge had a mastery of English. The hotel was the best we stayed in during our European travels...clean and very comfortable. The garden was an oasis from the Venice crowds. The area where the hotel is located is quieter than most neighborhoods, but there were plenty of restaurants within a short walk (less than 10 mins).
