Once you find Domus Orsoni you will be quite enchanted as the building has a gorgeous entrance, garden, and view of the Venetian roofs. However, we arrived late (8pm flight) and catching the Alilaguna we had to wait till 9.45 to leave the airport.. We got to Guglie (the boat stop) at around 10.30 and then promptly got lost even though we had a print put of the directions, two maps etc.. Nearing 11pm I decided to ring Valentina who thankfully answered the phone and can speak English, which given how stressed I was, was a relief. She promptly sent a hotel employee out to find us. I am very grateful how friendly, professional and efficient all the staff were. The room was nice and spotlessly clean. I would recommend you arrive in the day if possible as the next morning, we realised the entrance to the street was being renovated and so we missed the sign and maps with side streets, well, we didn't find one. The sign for the hotel is tiny so I am not sure if we would have found it especially at night. So if you see a Tabacchi you should be near the alley that weaves to the hotel, just left off the Guglie stop.

Our small famiily (2 kids) stayed in Domus Orsoni in August 2013 for three days and we had a brilliant time. The B & B is very centrally, but calm located, a vaporetto station is nearby and you can find lovely restaurants in the neighbourhood. The rooms are very clean and nice with amazing mosaics and bathrooms. A continental breakfast is served in the morning. The people are very friendly.

What can I say about Domus Orsoni that everyone else hasn't already spoken about at length?

The Location: Perfectly placed near to the train station - near enough for two tired travellers with large backpacks to walk to. Not based directly in the centre of everything we found it beautifully calm and loved the local feel of the area.

The Room: Clean, prettily decorated with glass mosaics (of course!), well-equipped and with fully working, quiet air con.

The En-Suite: Small but perfectly formed, scrupulously clean and well-decorated. Excellent large shower (no bath though - although to be fair we weren't told we'd have one).

The Staff: Everyone we met including owner Valentina was friendly and helpful. We were even left a map outside our door with restaurants of interest circled for when we woke up after we arrived (we had to catch a 4am bus to get there from Croatia, we were left to our own devices until we were awake and ready to check in properly. So thoughtful!)

Facilities: Small dining area and outside terrace are lovely, free wifi (always a plus), Orsoni mosaic gallery downstairs. This is not a leisure hotel, it's a place to come and relax after a day's chicchetti and Aperol spritz adventuring.

Basically this hotel is a haven and I would not stay anywhere else in Venice now. I just don't want anyone else to know about it because it seems so like my own little secret...

Domus Orsoni is perfect in every way. We were greeted by our host and treated to cookies and the beverage of our choice on the outdoor patio overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden. The room and bathroom were both decorated in beautiful mosaic tiles. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the grand canal, it was a short walk from the train station and from the Guglie stop where we were able to get a boat to the airport. Amazing find!

Domus Orsoni is a delightful little B&B tucked into the Cannaregio district, within walking distance from the train and bus stations. Its excellent location combines the quiet of back streets and little canals, with walking or vaporetto access to the big sights when you're ready for them. Host Flavio offers a caring welcome and orients you to the map of Venice, the Cannaregio neighbourhood, and how to see the sights that interest you in the time that you have. His advice is helpful, such as how to experience a cheap gondola ride by taking the local transit gondolas that cross the Grand Canal. Or where to have a tasty meal nearby. And to visit the evocative Jewish Ghetto of Venice nearby, where the name ghetto was first coined and where you can sit in the ghetto piazza and ponder The Merchant of Venice. Have your breakfast on the balcony, sip a cool drink in the garden downstairs, or rest in your comfortable air conditioned room, decorated with Orsoni glass and gold mosaic art. There's dependable Wifi, a mini fridge in each room, and tea makings in the breakfast room. The Orsoni family mosaic workshop backs on the garden; perhaps you'll have the chance of a tour. This is authentic Venice for travellers who are ready to get lost in the back streets, squares and canals away from the madding crowd. Domus Orsoni is a fine choice where you will feel at home.

I cannot recommend Domus Orsoni enough - perfect place to stay in Venice. Away from the tourist crowds in real Venice. Amazing tour of the mosaic factory. Big room for the family of 4 including 2 girls. Very kind & helpful staff. PERFECT

Comfortable, quiet, welcoming, convenient and the best shower ever! Domus Orsoni was a fabulous place to stay in Venice. It was a 10 minute walk from the train station, 2 minutes from a vaporetti stop and an easy stroll to the main square. There were great places to eat; all within an easy stroll. We were given recommendations to a number of restaurants by our host, Fabio, and the ones we tried were spot on. The rooms have works of art by the local mosaic artist-the namesake Lucio Orsoni There is a lovely and quiet garden in the courtyard where you can sip your Prosecco that you bought just around the corner and unwind from the crowds, vendors and amazing sites of this beautiful city.

We would, without hesitation stay here again and recommend it.

Room Tip: The room with the golden mosaic shower is fun.

Dear customer,
Many thanks for your kind review, unfortunalty we cannot make anything else for the quality of sleeping of that room , because the view is on the main street and people passing and talking make some noises, it's life of Cannaregio quarter.
