“A Real Gem!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2008

Our group of 10 Stayed here on our last night of a 2 week trip, and it was by far our best accommodation. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms large, modern (nicer than the hotels) and very clean.
The hotel has an authentic Venetian feel with our bedroom window next to the canal (you can almost touch the boats going by.) The breakfast was great , starting with our pleasant host offering rich Cappicinos.
Luca sent us clear, concise instructions, from the train station to the B& B. (They look lengthy when you read them, but when you arrive in Venice it all makes sense, and is not so bad.)
The area is very quiet yet close to many attractions. We felt very safe in this area (day and night).
All around a great experience. All 10 in our group Say BRAVO!

I booked a 3 night stay at Ca' Furlan alla Croce di Malta at www.venere.com (following a link from www.viamichelin.com). I searched for apartments or rooms that could accomodate a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). Ca' Furlan seemed like a nice option.

Needless to say, the room was very charming, but got very crowded with the two extra beds that were placed there to accomodate the children. It was basically a regular double room. The beds were comfortable, although it was a little warm at night without any air conditioning. The bathroom was new and modern, but tiny! You had to back up when opening and closing the door.
The continental breakfast was ok, but nothing special.

Ca' Furlan can be hard to find, but is in a nice and quiet location, only minutes away from the busy area near Piazza San Marco. With the help of a map we were able to locate Ca' Furlan on our own without any problems. Water taxi would definitely be the easiest, most comfortable way to get there (but expensive).

I would recommned this B&B to other travellers, although only 2 people per room.

  • Liked — Modern bathroom, quiet location
  • Disliked — The do not accept credit cards for payment! Cash or travellers checks only. Very inconvenient!

The room was charming and the view of the little canal was fun. It's a very clean hotel, conveniently located to St. Mark's, and not too far away from a vaporetto stop. In general, we were very pleased with this choice.

I found the Ca'Furlan last year whilst browsing for somewhere reasonable to stay in Venice. It immediately attracted my attention because of its link to Malta thru the location of it being ontop of the old stables used by the Knights of Malta.
Its a 4* B&B and from what I could gather there were only about 4 rooms. All rooms are decorated in the Venetian style and have lovely wooden beams. You really feel you are in Venice. Our room overlooked one of the little canals and it was a joy just to watch the 'goings on' from our room window. The bathroom was very spacious and nicely done and very very clean as was the whole building. Breakfast was ample and very good continental standard. The girl serving us was extremely polite and helpful too. We had a lovely big bed plus an enormous sofa which I think can be used as a third bed. Satellite TV and mini bar. We went off peak and had to pay Euro115 per night for the room over lookong the canal with breakfast. Considering the high prices of Venice and the standard of the B&B I think this was quite moderate. I would recommend this to anybody.
We arrived close to midnight and had absolutely no problem navigating our way thru the streets from the Arsenale with the excellent directions given to us by the owners.
The location is brilliant, just about 3 minutes walk to St. Mark's Square and to all the Vaporetti and anything you would want.
I don't have enough praise for it. A very high recommendation!

This is a really small bed and breakfast that I found absolutely charming. We Americans have the bad habit of expecting everything to be huge...even though it is unnecessary. The room I was in was small but immaculate! The bathroom was new and modern, gorgeous marble floors and walls, lovely new shower, toilet and bidet. I had TWO windows which overlooked the canal below. (Room 3 is the best in my book). The room doors open onto the lovely breakfast room, where the matronly attendant serves coffee as you request it, and plenty of continental fare is provided. The location is not that hard to find, off the beaten path by a bit so it is quiet. You get a key to the exterior door of the hotel, which made me feel quite secure. Staff is friendly with not much English, but who cares, you're in Italy! Immerse yourself and try something a bit more Italian, less Best Western!

  • Liked — Located close to the cultural sites I wanted to see, but not too close for noise and tourist traffic

Stayed at Ca'Furlan at 10th & 11th June. We were in Venice for a friends wedding. We found the hotel using the directions e-mailed to us from the hotel and had no problems getting there whatsoever. We arrived earlier than the requested check in time but received a very friendly welcome and we were amazed at the standard of our room. It was very spacious, decorated in a typical Venetian style and absolutely spotless. It also had the benefit of air con which,as the weather was so hot ,was a welcome surprise. The breakfasts were lovely and they even put an early breakfast on for us on our last day as we had to get to the airport.
The staff seem to go out of their way to help us, nothing seemed too much trouble.
We would definitely recomend staying here, in fact we are planning our next trip very soon !!

We booked two rooms with canal view at this hotel four months ago (159 euros each room). Two days before our arrival, the owner sent us an email saying that there was a problem with the rooms we reserved and that unfortunately, nobody will be working at the hotel at this date. He told us that he booked two other rooms, same standard, in another hotel, in the same area. We really felt angry but did not have the choice, as all the other hotels were full.
Once arrived in Venice at the other hotel, we went to Ca Furlan just to have a look and saw that the hotel was open and that customers went inside, so the owner lied to us.
Our stay at the other hotel (Locanda Valeri) was a terrific experience, as we had some very awful rooms at the same price, without any view and with many problems. Be careful, do not trust Ca Furlan.
