“Lovely, quiet B&B located within walking distance of Piazzale Roma”

Stayed 3 nights at this lovely B&B in November 2006. We booked a room for 3 people but were given an upgrade to a two bedroom apartment which was an unexpected surprise. The B&B is located within less than 5 minutes walking distance from Piazzale Roma bus station (the Ryanair/ATVO bus drops off at Piazzale Roma). The vaparetto stop Piazzale Roma was also convenient to the B&B and the no. 82 or no. 1 vaparetto can take you all over Venice.

The B&B is located on a wide street and is very quiet. The area is very safe. The rooms were clean and spacious and the bathroom was very modern and sparkling clean. The beds were quite comfortable too. There was a small flat screen TV on the wall that received Italian channels. The breakfast was filling but just consisted of pre-packaged Italian pastries, juice, hot beverage, yogurt and some fresh fruit. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Overall a very good value and highly recommended to anyone.

How lucky can you get? Book it now!

My first time in Venice, traveling alone. I had very stupidly booked a 6:15 a.m. KLM flight out of Venice (I'm going to hurt the travel agent, but that's another story--LOL) and suddenly panicked on my third and last day--how the heck could I get to the bus station in the middle of the night, from San Pantalon (Hotel Tivoli) to get the first bus (4:40a) to the airport? I kept getting lost during the day--there was no chance I could find my way at night, in the 60 watt bulbs-lit, quiet, spooky streets of Venice. The Informazione folks wanted to book me in Sofitel (Euro 293, down from 400 -- gulp!) and laughed, "Guess you're staying in San Pantalon tonight." NOPE. For three hours I hounded the hotels around the bus station to find a space. A very kind gentleman at one of the smaller hotels said a friend of his had had a cancellation. I ran there as fast as I could--and was successful in booking for just the one night!

The room was gorgeous. Clean. King-size bed. Quiet. Fabulous large bath, with shower cap, shampoo, soap, towel warmer, bidet. Little fridge tucked into the closet. TV. I felt like I was staying at a 4-star.

The location couldn't have been better. It's on a street that appears to have once been a canal, filled in--so it's very wide, for Venice. Peaceful, local, away--but just two blocks from the bus station. 30 steps from an actual grocery store where I could buy toothpaste (ran out after having brought my regulation 3 oz., thank you U.S.); and a couple of great little canal-side restaurants where I indulged in lobster & pasta for lunch. Charming and lovely.

But the best part was the staff. The owner was endearing, put up with my attempts to speak Italian, and was extremely kind. Held my room for an hour while I packed quickly in San Pantalon and ran through the streets (got lost again) to take the room. The woman who cleaned also helped book me, and was generous and sweet. And the very handsome young man who called to wake me up in the middle of the night--my last in Venezia, sniff!--was right on time and also very kind, helping me with my bag.

Paid Euro 105 for the night and it was worth every penny. Would definitely stay again. Too bad I had to leave too early for the coffee!

Thank you Locanda Marinella! You are wonderful!

    • Tips/Secrets: — My room (#1) is located through the breakfast room (1st fl.), but this would be good for folks who don't do steps well.

Travelled from Melbourne around Europe and absolutely fell in love with Venice. No doubt the Allogi Marinella was a big part of that. Lovely comfortable beds. Very clean facilities. Quite back street right near the central bus terminal. Simple light breakfast, cereal yogurt, coffee and pastrie. Great staff. Wonderful experience.

“A hidden Gem”

Alloggi Locanda Marinella

Having just returned from the Marinella, I felt that I needed to let others know what a great hotel this is. An ideal location, minutes from the P.Le Roma and from the Vapertto. A loveley hotel, with very helpful and accomodating staff, sharing their knowledge of their city. The rooms were bright and airy, and so very clean. The breakfast was ample, and was all the better for being able to eat in the garden - a lovely touch! I would recommned this hotel to everyone, couples, single and those with a young family. A hidden and affordable gem. Give it a go - you will be pleasantly surprised!!!!!
