“Spacious Luxurious Boutique Hotel near Vaporetta Stop”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo is a beautiful Boutique hotel which is affordable, spacious and convenient. Everything in Venice is expensive especially near The Grand Canal. This hotel has restaurants and gelaterias near by. If you stay here and dine near by, it will be more affordable. You won't be able to take in the Grand Canal View, but you can enjoy the view on your Vaporetta ride.

The hotel has a great courtyard for breakfast and enjoying some well earned relaxation after a day of touring.

There were 4 of us and we rented a 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath apartment with a sitting area. The room was lovely and there was a speaker box which you must use to gain access into the housing quarters.

Bottom line, I would stay here again. Nice staff and an easy location.

We stayed for 2 nights and loved it. The hotel is in a great location, about 10 minutes walk from the Rialto bridge and 15/20 minute walk from St Marks Square. The layout of the hotel meant that we were just off the main hotel in a separate building. The room was immaculate. Breakfast is served in the main building and consists of all the usual European continental fare. The staff were always friendly and smiling and provided lots of useful information of where to go and what to do.
If arriving by car - park at the San Giuliano lots outside of central Venice and take a Vaporetto into Venice.

We booked the junior suite for 3 days and it was perfect for our needs. the accommodation is well positioned close to everything but far enough away so you don't have the tourist noise and chaos once you've finished sightseeing for the day. There are excellent restaurants nearby and the room is extremely spacious and the bed very comfortable. the staff are obviously happy and it makes for a very pleasant stay.

We stayed for 4 nights last week and what a fantastic place! Rooms were immaculate- we stayed 3 nights in the new part round the corner and 1 night in the main part of the hotel both well decorated and comfortable, air con in the room worked well, rooms and bathrooms were spacious and well decorated. The service was great very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was perfect- hot croissants and bread for each table and the usual fruit salad/yogurts/cereal. Coffee latte was tasty too. Even left my mobile in the room and was handed in to reception by the maid after we had moved rooms. Very close to the Vaperetto stop 1 minute walk so we didn't have to pull our luggage far- no lift in either hotels but only 1 flight of stairs so not a problem. I would highly recommend this hotel as the service is personable from check in to breakfast and check out. Lots of help on transport, where to visit and getting around Venice.

Beautiful hotel in quiet area of Venice close to all the attractions. Rooms were clean and tidy with everything you need. Staff were very helpful and friendly and made a real effort with the kids. Grace was particularly nice at breakfast every day. Would definitely visit again.

Overall, we had a great experience and would stay here again.
Pros:
-quaint hotel, off the beaten path
-quiet area away from tourist areas
-nice, clean, rustic rooms
-good continental breakfast
-nice staff/good service
-pretty outdoor courtyard
-very affordable price relative to other hotels in Venice of same quality
Cons:
-Location was a little inconvenient (to get to St. Marks Square) - it is a half hour on the water taxi and a half hour if you choose to walk
-Small rooms
Overall, nice experience!!

Exceptional service, great hospitality and well appointed rooms are what you'll find in this hotel. We've stayed in the month of July for 2 nights at this hotel. We've arrived a little early for our check-in (11:30am, I think) and Walter got us checked in within half hour. While we are waiting we had excellent Latte from the Kitchen. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. We were in Annexe which is just behind the main hotel. There is no lift, so if you have luggage you'll have to drag them up. Sandro has helped us with the luggage and walked the steps with my son entertaining him on the way. He's very good with kids. The room we had had a nice, clean shower and the air conditioning worked perfectly. Wifi was excellent and consistent. The safe provided in the room was small for a 15" laptop but was enough for our 10" tablet. The entire location feels secure so we didn't feel the real need of a safe.

Break fast was good with lots of options available and this was included in our room tariff. Kelly was excellent with her service and always smiling which is nice. In the annexe there is a small seating area with some books (novels, magazines etc) for your reading pleasure, if you had to stay indoors because of rain or some other reason. The hotel was in San Stae which is third stop from the Venice train station Vaporetto stop (known as Ferravia). We've taken 36hrs pass which included Grand Canal tour. This costs 10 euros extra over the normal vaporetto fare but you'll get access to the special water buses called Vaporetto Del'Arte which are mainly for tourists. These are a lot less crowded than the regular Vaporettos so we thought they are worth the 10 euro premium. Only caveat is they don't stop in every stop on the Grand canal (for example Rialto Mercato) but they stop on major destinations (Rialto, San Marco etc) so that you can get down there and take a Vaporetto (you can get on Vaporettos obviously if you have Grand Canal tour pass) to reach the destination that is not catered by the Del'Arte service.

Very close to the hotel you'll find some restaurants and a grocery store which is convenient. There are lot of tourist attractions within San Stae itself but we didn't get time to explore all. The hotel is, in our opinion, very well located and a nice base for exploring Venice.
We'll certainly come back to Al Ponte Mocenigo when we are in Venice next time.
