“Nice experience for a first time in Venice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

We were a bit surprised about "Venice" as a whole,..so our Hotel was so different from a traditional building,..that it seemed awkward at first. However, that said,..from making reservations with this hotel until the day we checked out,..ALL our needs were met!
We stayed in a family suite which was apparently just renovated. The room decor - Venetian,..the Bathroom nice, new, but no view from our room. At first that bothered me, but we never spent more time in our room than to sleep,..so looking back,..no big deal.
The breakfast at the Hotel was nice, quaint and held in the courtyard of the hotel. The charm here is that the courtyard could use a little renovation too, ..but the deco was typical Italian, which again,..added to the charm. The hotel was located in an older neighborhood, a bit away from all the tourist. We were glad, because there were simply too many people in the San Marco Square area (the more popular area). The boats (public transportation) was within a short distance of the hotel...which made coming and going very easy.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in April, we were in the annexe next door which was lovely and our room was stunning. Staff are super helpful from booking the opera too recommending and booking restaurants. We got a private water taxi to the hotel but because hotel is so close to the town we were only in in for 5 mins, so not sure it was worth the £100. The water buses are easy to use and the stop outside is seconds away from the hotel. Breakfast was more than substantial with delicious pastries just out of the oven. Perfect hotel for getting about Venice, all the main tourist destinations within walking distance...just remember your map!

The location of the hotel is very convenient, close to San Stae stop. We also liked the Venetian designed quadruple room which was spacious enough for my family of 4 (2 teenage kids). We were given a room at the annex, just abt 15m from the main hotel lobby. It's not a hassle to walk to the main hotel for breakfast every morning unless it rains. The rooms are well maintained and kept clean. Staff are friendly and helpful in recommending places to eat and making reservations on your behalf as well. We had a wonderful holiday in Venice!

First of all, I have to tell you to abandon your maps when you visit Venice. I lost my directions to this hotel and all I knew was that it was along the Grand Canal, about halfway between Ponte Rialto and the St. Lucia train station. With that little bit of information we found it with almost no problem. It's right behind a vaporetto stop, too, if you don't want to walk. The hotel is well-maintained and even though we were given the worst room in the hotel (they admitted it), the beautiful wooden beams across the ceiling, fabric headboard, and painted armoir made up for it. The confusing part was that every time we left the hotel we had to leave our key at the front desk and we were never told why. Judging by the metal fence around the courtyard, however, I assumed it was so no one could steal our key and break in. It was about 1km to Rialto, 1.5 to San Marco and the gondolas, and 1km to the train station. My one serious complaint is that the first step of the bridge to get to the hotel was too short to put your foot on, so you had to step up sideways or go to the second step, and that was the same for exiting so it was a bit dangerous. Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the breakfast as our train left before we had the opportunity to enjoy it, but the eating area looked very nice.

Room Tip: Ask specifically not to be in room #1, it's the smallest in the entire hotel and has no view

Took the Orange Line water bus from the Airport to the SAN STAE stop which is 2 minutes from the hotel. The entrance is in a narrow (clean) alley off the main thoroughfare. We had a warm greeting and after checking in we walked around the corner as our room was in the annex ( which we new at the time we booked). We had a Superior room which was beautifully clean and decorated in true venetian style, quite decorative. The bathroom was beautifully tiled and the rainhead shower was excellent with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was served in the main Hotel and sitting in the Courtyard was a lovely start to the day. The Staff were all very helpful and charming.

Room Tip: The Annex is on the main thoroughfare from the waterbus stop but it was not noisy. Our room was on t...

My wife and I are travelling for our 20th anniversary but have never been to Europe. We took the just in recommendation of our local travel advisor and we are amazed with the beauty, culture, location, everything.
There is a quaint little balcony over the small canal, the ceilings are 12 foot high timbers, its very clean and also very secure.
Once you walk around for the day and get to know the area you will find how everything is so close because everything is here. you just need to 'get lost in the city' to absorb the culture and beauty of the city.

Room Tip: Room 5 is great for a couple.

This hotel has a very convenient location with easy access to the Vaporetto. The staff was always friendly and helpful. A nice breakfast was included and very enjoyable on the patio.
