Arrived in Venice after a very long day flying from Seattle and were looking forward to being able to enjoy our first "adult" vacation in years. Fortunately, we had booked ahead with Alloggi Barbaria and we were not disappointed. Following their directions, we walked to the Aligluna boat dock and rode it across the lagoon, getting off at Ferrovia Nuove stop. Then it was a short, 10 min walk along the canal to the street where the hotel is! We were met by Tatianna, who showed us to our room, got us settled, and made some great dinner recommendations.
The rooms are not fancy, but quite adequate, clean, and quiet (I was surprised how quiet Venice can be, especially off of the Grand Canal). Met Fausto the next morning and he served us a lovely breakfast of rolls, yogurt, coffee, and juice. Some folks on TA seem taken aback by this, but it was just right for us, as we could then justify a mid-morning stop for Cappucino and pastries!. Wi-Fi worked only okay, as we were a long ways from the router, but who cares-- we're on vacation.
A couple of notes: be prepared for stairs, as to cross most of the canals, you have to go up a dozen or more steps, then down again (Stupid me, I thought the bridges would be flat...).
