The best part of Al Teatro is most definitely Eleanora! From the start she was extremely helpful. My husband had told her that we expected to arrive some time around 8:30pm and she asked us to call when we arrived so we would not have to wait outside for her. We arrived at the parking lot at 8:30, but between walking to the Vaparetto and the actual trip on the Vaparetto, we did not arrive at Giglio until after 10pm. Our phone was not working and I was extremely worried about missing her or finding that she had gone to bed (or worse, had given up on us assuming we weren't showing up) and I began to get even more nervous when we could not locate a payphone. Finally, we wandered into a hotel and asked to use their phone. Eleanora answered immediately and was outside the B and B within 5 minutes. She was extremely gracious and upbeat and even apologetic that she was unable to spend more than about 10 minutes with us because she had to pick her daughter up. She recommended a great restaurant where we were able to get a delicious, inexpensive meal late at night. The next day, she spent a lot of time with us over breakfast talking about our plans for the day and suggested a few places to visit. She made us delicious espresso drinks to our specific request (she taught my husband about macchiatone which is now his favorite). And so much food! Every morning was like this, too. We even made friends with another couple over breakfast one of the days we stayed. And the room (we stayed in the green room) was fantastic. The bed was comfortable and I loved being able to open my windows and look out at the canals and sometimes even be serenaded by an Italian gondolier--e' cosi romantico! If we return to Venice, Al Teatro will be our place to stay!!
