“excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Such a beautiful hotel. Unique experience to arrive and leave with a water taxi. PS, it's wiser to per-order and pay for the taxi ! Such a beautiful terrace ... and what a view! Rather good breakfast but have had better. Very nice and clean rooms ...

My husband and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and everything about this hotel made our vacation just perfect. The hotel itself has an intimate feel, the staff knew our names right away, and upgraded us to an incredible room on the 5th floor with a balcony and a welcoming bottle of prosecco. Even before our stay, the concierge was very helpful in arranging restaurant reservations, reserving a tour guide, and recommending activities like "Music a Palazzo" which is a small opera company that performs in a palazzo on the Grand Canal. Breakfast on the rooftop, "7th Heaven" as they call it, was a highlight, with the best view of the Grand Canal and the rooftops of Venice. And the location is perfect, just steps from St. Marks Square and near a water taxi/shuttle stop as well. All in all, a wonderful visit, we wish we could go back soon!

Room Tip: The 5th floor has room with balconies.

Hello,
we just stayed 6 nights in the Bauer Il Palazzo in Venice. overall a very good location:

Room: We had a room on the 7th floor (748) which was pretty perfect. It has a side view to channel. In the beginning we were a little bit disappointed about the view, because it is really a side view, but after a couple of days we were sure that this was the right choice. The room comes with a big terrace and is sunny from 11 am up to 8pm. Although you are right in center of Venice, max 5 minutes to San Marco, this place is absolutely peaceful. I would always prefer this room from any room directly at the Canale Grande as there it is quite noisy, a lot of traffic, many people around and not half as much privacy as in 748 (749/50 and 747 have the same view). Everything was in order, due tothe style it is a little bit dusty but that cannot be avoided with the wall paper they have.

Personnel: Everybody was extremely customer orientated, no reason to complain about anything. The Concierge service is extraordinary good, they know what is going on in town and arrange everything possible in an efficient way. Also the personnel in the breakfast room was extremely friendly and helpful.

Food: The breakfast is very good, rich choice. However, one thing which is not acceptable for a 5+ star hotel is that you get an extra charge for fried eggs or an omelette. The hotel should reconsider its policy here. The breakfast location on the 7th floor is a nice terrace with a nice view, however, not comparable with the view you have from the terrace in the Danieli hotel which is really breathtaking.
NOT recommendable is the hotel restaurant, see my separate article about this,
Room service we did not try apart from a birthday cake for my wife which was also extraordinary good and came with a complimentary bottle of Prosecco. Everything was perfectly arranged by them, again very very good service.

We also didn't try the SPA which is located in the sister hotel Il Palladio, on the other side of the Canale, which you can easily reach with the hotel boat which is departing every half an hour. We were there for a drink and a dinner, nice quiet location as well.

Very recommendable place !

Room Tip: 7th floor, rooms 747-750 (maybe there are some more rooms on that side but I am not sure. see also m...

We had a great 2 night stay in Il Palazzo. We had two connecting rooms, which always adds to the enjoyment on a family holiday. The service at the hotel was charming and gracious, and the location was superb. We enjoyed drinks on the terrace looking out on the grand hotel. The rooms were very nice -- period rooms but not worn. The bathrooms were large. The blinds darkened the room completely. We stayed at similarly classed, 5 star hotels, in Florence and Rome, but this was by far the best. Our only regret was not staying longer.

I originally tried to book the Baglioni when planning our trip to Venice, however it had no availability during our vacation dates. Well, I am sure glad it didn't because our stay at The Bauer was absolutely perfect! We arrived via a private water taxi from the airport which we arranged through the hotel and that was quite a fun experience! It was a very comfortable ride and took us through several canals. Since we already had our own private boat ride we did not feel the need to rent a gondola during our stay. As soon as we docked at the hotel the entire staff came out to greet us and made us feel very welcomed. Since we were members of the LHW club we were given an upgrade to a Junior Suite with a balcony and view of the Grand Canal. It was a very spacious corner room and we enjoyed watching the boats and gondolas from our balcony. The hotel's location could not be any better since it is right around the corner from San Marco square and other great sites that the helpful concierges can direct you to. Between the great location, gorgeous hotel, and attentive staff you can not go wrong if you choose this property.

For location, the Bauer is hard to beat, 5 star hotel, great service and nice accomodations...for Venice. Our rooms were on the canal and the views were great. The breakfast buffet is quite good and the views from the 7th floor are stunning. The staff and concierge were very friendly and helpful. I would pass on the main restaurant, ther are others that have a menu that has more selections and the overall food quality was fair, great venue, beautiful views but, you can do better somewhere else. I would stay here again. you are just steps away from San Marco and the trip to Murano is great, the arrangement with a top glass house is worth going to visit. Ask for Luigi.

This small, boutique hotel has the feel of an old manor house and is beautifully decorated in the old Venician style. The entrance is directly off the Grand Canal and the water taxi ride was breathtaking from the airport. We got an upgrade on our room and could not have been happier with our suite. It had a modern bathroom and was very clean all round with a friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was included and very good with one of the best views of Venice that we encountered. I would recommend the Bauer Palazzo and would definitely stay there again.
