I am just ending a 5 night stay at this exceptional hotel and am sorry to be leaving. The hotel is a former palazzo that was just renovated 6 months ago. The hotel is 2 minutes from the Rialto vaporetto and a 5 minute walk to San Marco Piazza. Our room is huge and elegantly furnished in old Venetian style with Murano fixtures, wood floors and textured wallpaper. The room overlooks a small canal, with windows that open and allow you to see all the boats and gondolas floating quietly by. The room has fabulous air conditioning, powerful and soundless (I've never had such great AC in Europe before.) There is a marble bathroom with spacious shower that has both a rain shower and a hand-held shower head, with plentiful toiletries and extra large plush towels. The staff are all friendly, smiling and very helpful. I give special kudos to Yana, Filipo, Sergei and Dennis who went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. I had decided that I might cancel a reservation for a restaurant one night and they encouraged me to try it, saying that it was generally one that guests enjoyed. It turned out to be our favourite restaurant and near the hotel. (Osteria di Santa Marina). Breakfast, which is included in the room cost,is buffet style and served in 3 lovely adjoining rooms. There is a spa and apparently a very good restaurant as well, but we did not have the opportunity to use them.
This hotel is one that any discerning traveller will enjoy.
