Situated 20 yards from our hotel, we spent two evenings in here. Often when you travel you can feel a bit in a touristy bubble. Here, the two lovely bar men twinkled at us and were so friendly with everyone that came in.
The cocktail bar was a good mixture of classics, such as old fashioneds and bellinis, all served how they should be. Even something such as a glass of wine was served with a flourish, with the waiter replacing my rather sour red with a fruity valpolicella and waving away my awkwardness.
The second night we went in, we were not only recognised, but our drinks order was remembered. Lots of tourists came in and the waiters switched comfortably from French to German, to British. We did get very blooted, I have to confess, but if was such a relaxed atmosphere. Plus, you are given bowls of crisps to chomp on and also sandwiches, also on the house. On the Saturday evening, the bar suddenly became heaving, bulging with locals, I guess, which was fab, as they were all beautiful and some were wearing fancy hats.
