We came upon this by chance, when visiting Accademia. It is just off Zattere on Fondamente Nani, We instantly recognised the oldest working boatyard in Venice opposite, which is why we went in, keen to work our way through local wines having been inspired by our tour with Cecilia (Urban Adventures, also recommended) the night before.
The proprietor really responded to our interest and offered us wines for tasting at no charge. We were able to communicate in French (generally a better bet than English in Venice).
We tried a number of cichetti which we ate sitting on wooden benches looking at the aforementioned view. The very good range of wines available were only 2-3 euros each, and there was no charge for sitting down.
The loo, controlled by a key available to clients, no charge, is palatial, modern and spotlessly clean, as well as spacious. Definitely in a class of its own.
If we lived nearby (I wish) this would definitely be our local. Venice does not have to be a rip off. Don't miss it.
