“Love Foscari Palace hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

I've stayed here twice in the past few years. First time we had. Small balcony and the second time a full view of the canal. Very satisfied both times. They have an excellent breakfast, and a small dock with table and chairs right on the canal. We pent several enjoyable hours one afternoon watching the boats. About 10 minute walk to all the important sites. Make sure to go up to the roof deck. Right around the corner from the Ca D'Oro vaparetto stop, so it's very easy to travel around.

Expensive, but nice. We chose to splurge a little since in Venice for the first time. We chose a room with a view. I wouldn't recommend paying the extra for a 'view'. We had a small window you had to stretch your neck out to see much. If I were to do it again I would pay the least amount possible for an inside, small hotel off the beaten path. There is no reason to pay big money for something you will see anyway once you walk outside. We were not in the room other than to sleep. IF the room had a set of glass windows and sliding glass doors facing the canal then maybe it would have been worth it, but in this case it was a window. Additionally, the air conditioning unit was just below the window which not only made it even more difficult to stretch your neck out, but it was also in the way of the curtains so you couldn't even close the curtains or you would lose air blowing into the room. The staff was nice, the location was excellent, the rooms were big and roomy, the breakfast was average European. Also, there was a floor lamp in the room in which the shade didn't sit right. I would expect for an expensive hotel like this one there would be nothing out of place.

Room Tip: Forget the room with a view, don't spend the money, just get an inside room.

We stayed at this property for 2 nights. We checked in at midnight after a long day, and were pleasantly surprised to walk in to a large room with a king bed. Bathroom was massive, and everything was clean. No view (room 212) but to be honest, you don't need it, just step outside! (If you come to Venice to hang out in your room, you better stay home).
Breakfast:
I haven't seen a free breakfast this good at any hotel I've stayed at. Tons of variety and plenty of healthy choices as well. Great coffee! try and eat your breakfast on the front patio (which only has two tables). The view of the Grand Canal is breathtaking.
Location:
Excellent. We managed to walk around the entire city in one day. Hotel is also very easy to find.
Service:
Service was on point. Everything we asked for was immediately delivered/done without having to wait or ask twice for anything. Staff were efficient in answering all our practical questions.
However, don't expect overly friendly front desk staff or concierge-type service. They aren't good with making suggestions or recommendations and in general not rude but not hospitable. To us it didn't matter since we already knew everything we wanted to see, do, and where we wanted to eat. But if you are a needy traveler who requires lots of recommendations, guidance and hand-holding, you will be disappointed.
Wifi:
I had trouble connecting the entire 2 days, but my fiance didn't have any issues, so it's a hit and miss.
Value: This hotel is excellent value for money and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Room 212 has no view and is considered basic, but it was large and had a king size bed, as well as a...

It’s hard to fault this place. The room, breakfast and service were all great. The location was fantastic – right in the heart of Venice and on the Grand Canal. The value for money was exceptional, but we got a great deal through TripAdvisor, which seemed to be much less than the standard price, so my opinion is perhaps biased by that. One of the best aspects of this hotel, aside from the location, was the rooftop terrace, where we relaxed and watched the boats cruise down the canal. The best time of the day was dusk when all the church bells would sound out across the city – simply beautiful.

Ever since the Foscari owners have opened the new hotel, I feel like the little Focari has been
Forgotten about. All the attention is on their new hotel. Even furniture has been taken, as well as beautiful paintings, have been moved to the other hotel. Hey, please put the Foscari back to where it was years ago, five star. Please put the furniture back and paintings and please put your help back in the Foscari palace. Please !

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room overlooking the canal.

We highly recommend the Hotel Foscari for those travelers seeking an upscale hotel that is within a twenty minute walk (or a short vaporetto ride) to St. Mark’s Square and many of the main tourist attractions, but far enough away from the most popular tourist areas to offer a local experience.

We stayed at the Hotel Foscari for three nights this past April. The Hotel overlooks the Grand Canal from a quiet square off the a busy street called “Strada Nova,” which runs parallel to the Grand Canal and is apparently the longest street in Venice. Walk out of the Hotel and turn left onto Strada Nova and you can get deliciously lost in a residential area known as “Sestieri Cannaregio.” There is no shortage of places to eat, drink, and shop and with little effort you will find yourself enjoying Venice like real Venetians. The Hotel is only about a five minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, which leads across the Grand Canal to the San Polo neighborhood, home of the famous Rialto Market and an abundance of neighborhood trattorias, osterias, tavernas, and wine bars. Indeed, the Hotel is directly across the Grand Canal from the Rialto Market and a water ferry (“traghetti”) runs between the square next to the Hotel and the Market for those people (like us) who would prefer to cross the Canal without having to fight the crowds that congregate at the Rialto Bridge.

The public areas in the Hotel are well-appointed and spotless, and a bit stuffy in a good, uniquely Venetian sort of way. The breakfast exceeded our expectations both in the variety and quality of the offerings. Our deluxe room was large, adequately air-conditioned, and mostly comfortable, and offered the advertized views of the Grand Canal. There were only two minor negatives (and I hesitate to even call them that): The front desk staff, while professional and efficient, were a bit stiff and corporate and the lobby bar seemed more for show than for use. Indeed, when I checked the bar several times during what should have been prime hours I never saw a bartender or a guest at the bar (leaving me to wonder whether the absence of a bartender was due to the lack of guests or the absence of guests was due to the lack of a bartender).

We stayed in for one night after travelling from Lake Garda. We had a massive suite on the the second floor which had two balconies overlooking the canal. Fantastic views. The lady on the desk was really nice and ready with a smile to help when we had a small problem with the air conditioning. The one downside we experienced was in the morning when we went down for breakfast and the lady watching over the breakfast was very stern and not welcoming at all, and stood over us while we were getting our cereal, which made us feel very uncomfortable.

Room Tip: Junior suite on second floor had fabulous views.
