“Close to all the action, but in the quiet Dorsoduro neighborhood!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

Read scores of reviews, and had a pretty realistic idea of what to expect. Palazzo Guardi delivered on all levels, in a good way. Best and most flexible rate will be had directly from the palazzo. Excellent, quick email responses from staff were extremely helpful before arrival. Thank you Irene! Hard to find? Maybe a little, but do a little research, and read the information provided by the palazzo before you leave home, and there will be no excuse to stumble around looking for the front door.
Palazzo Guardi is located in two separate buildings about a block apart. The main building is located down a narrow alley and is also the location to check in for both buildings. The annex building is located adjacent to and above Taverna San Trovaso, and right on a beautiful little canal, Rio de San Trovaso. Beware that there is no elevator in the annex building, and all guest rooms are 1 to 3 flights of stairs up. We stayed in junior suite "Tinteretto" in the annex building with a wonderful view down the canal. Very good sized room by European standards, and the air conditioning was very good as well. Breakfast is included, and while a little sparse, it is more than adequate.
If you require a "luxury" experience with the staff pampering you 24/7, then this is not your spot. But, if you are looking for excellent value, very clean room, and a wonderful location in quiet and full of character Dorsoduro, then you have found a home. Located equidistant from the Zattere stop on the Guidecca Canal and the Accademia vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal, hotel is a 15-20 walk from San Marco Square.

Will definitely stay with Palazzo Guardi on our next visit to Venice!

Room Tip: Chose a room in the annex building and ask for a canal view!

As other reviewers note, this hotel, once you find it, is in a great location, mere steps to the vaporetto or a pleasant walk to San Marco Square. The quiet setting was a welcome relief after visiting the crowded sights of Venice. However, the hotel itself can best be described as "adequate." The very dingy decor did not bother us particularly, but the choice between walking up three flights or taking a very slow one-person elevator was unexpected. Breakfast was okay. Evening staff did not have much English or Italian. Day staff person was helpful.

Room Tip: We were on the third floor--the "lobby"--where breakfast was served. Diners were quiet, a...

I read lots of reviews on here and other sites before the holiday and was being realistic about the place before I arrived. However I can honestly say this was a great hotel, the location was excellent, facilities and service was excellent too. We took the Alilaguna boat from the airport and got off at Zatterre. Afetr a five minute walk we found the hotel. Easy. First of all this hotel is down a narrow alley, but we already knew that and were still very excited to find it. There is a lift to the reception and it is small, but walking upstairs didn't kill us. The staff were all super efficient, helpful and polite at all times. Breakfast was adequate with a good choice, and plenty of it. Our room wasn't one of the ones featured on the hotel website; it was a standard double size (although the bed was a typical continental double so much bigger than a UK double); but again perfectly adequate, clean, well maintained, air con worked, en-suite facilities were great and we had ample room. We actually stayed two doors down the alley but this certainly did not cause any problems. Location wise this hotel cannot be faulted. Arriving here was easy and straight forward, getting around Venice to the major sites was easy, plus there are local shops, bars and attractions so you don't have to go too far. Having said that there is very little noise at night and we definitely slept soundly and were only disturbed by the mosquitoes! This place is great. I'd definitely go back and if I don't I've got plenty of happy memories of my Venice holiday.

Room Tip: We stayed in the adjoining building and it was a little more private.

My wife and I stayed here for our time in Venice on our honeymoon, and all in all, this was a very wonderful stay. Palazzo Guardi is conveniently close to the Academia bridge and vaporetto stop, so we didn't have far to walk with bags. It was a little difficult to find initially (the front door is tucked down a very narrow alley), but nearly everything else was superb. The room was gorgeous - we stayed in the Green Room, which is one of the junior suites (I guess they have two?). The room had some restored antique furniture intended to give it a 16th Venitian feel, and the wall and furniture treatment made for very memorable decor.

The windows all opened up overlooking a nearby bridge and side canal, where we could occasionally hear the boats pass, though not terribly frequently, since it wasn't a terribly busy canal. The food was very good too - the included breakfast was very tasty, and had a good variety of foods (pastries, cheese, charcuterie, juice, eggs, decent coffee, etc.) The only downside was that the promised in-room wifi connection lagged terribly, and we were hardly able to use the internet the entire stay (which really isn't the end of the world when you're on your honeymoon).

Palazzo Guardi had an early booking discount (20% if I recall?) so the experience was very good for what you pay. All in all, I would highly recommend a stay to friends staying in Venice.

Room Tip: Ask for the green room - it made for an exciting, unique stay, with a good view, and right outside o...

Lodging in Venice is always tricky: either terribly expensive or lacking in quality and confort. Palazzo Guardi is not easily reached, since it is not located on a major thoroughfare of the city. However, once you realise that it is just some 100 meters from the Accademia vaporetto stop (to get you from or to the train station), and some 400 meters from the Zattere vaporetto stop (to get you from or to the airport), you will find the location just perfect. The neighbourhood is fairly quiet, so you get the best of two worlds: budget central location in Venice and a certain peace from the hordes of tourists. There are a couple of good restaurants around (including marvellous Ai Cugnai), the Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, and beautiful Santa Maria della Salute. Campo Santo Stefano is just at the other side of the Accademia Bridge (mind that there are not many bridges to cross the Grand Canal) and Piazza San Marco is just a 10 minute stroll away. The hotel itself is clean, acceptably decorated and even economic for Venetian standards.

Room Tip: The hotel has a main building and an annex. While the annex is OK, keep in mind that the original bu...

One night, August 2014. Room in the main building. A small challenge to find, but when you do you'll be positively surprised. Got an upgrade - and was happy about it. Good bed, Clean and large bathroom. Close to the major sights. Helpful staff who took care of our luggage the day of departure.

We stayed in a triple in the main building for two nights in June and were very happy with our choice of accommodation, We found Dorsoduro to be a very nice part of Venice and the hotel was perfectly located. Our room was large and light, though the bathroom was very tiny. The view was straight into the next building just a meter away across one of the narrowest streets I have ever walked. We were not there a lot so it did not matter much. The staff in the reception was very helpful. Breakfast was ok and served in a nice room overlooking the canal.
