“Always happy we stay at Palazzo Guardi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Once again our recent stay at Palazzo Guardi was wonderful. Irene took great care of us at check-in as we arrived a bit early after getting off a ship. They had our favorite room reserved and ready for us. It was like coming back home. We have stayed here and in other places in Venice but none as great as PG and we will always book there. Thanks again PG, Irene, Lucio et al for adding to our Venice trip as usual.

My husband surprised me with a 3 night visit to Venice and what a wonderful time we had. Palazzo Guardi is so close to the main attractions but in a quiet place that lets you find restaurants & wine bars which don't charge the tourist prices. We ate in restaurant Taverna San Travaso for our 3 nights in Venice, as it is 2 minutes from the hotel and after a full day of walking about the sights it was was great relief to our feet to have a great restaurant so nearby. Our room & bathroom was very spacious & comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly & helpful. We had a private water taxi take us from & to the airport, so drop off & pickup was just a few steps away from the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to experience Venice.

My girlfriend and I very much enjoyed our stay at Palazzo Guardi. Although located in a very small street, it was easy to find and very centrally located. The staff was very friendly and gave a lot of tips on Venice. Rooms were comfortable and the hotel itself was very quiet. Very much recommended if you are in Venice for a few nights!

Although on the Dorsoduro, it is just a few steps from the Accademia bridge. That makes it convenient for vaporetto stops on either side of the Grand Canal and it's a lovely walk to the St Mark's area or up to Rialto. Better value than staying closer to St Mark's Square.

We stayed in one of the larger rooms and found out that it was in a nearby annex. It turned out to be on the second floor directly above the Taverna San Trovaso where we had just had an excellent lunch - even had Prosecco as vino della casa!

Location is also convenient for the Zattere vaporetto stop if you want to go to the railway station, bus terminus or car park without going up the Grand Canal.

Room & en-suite were spacious and clean. We had a view to the street and a small canal yet it was quiet enough at night which can be a problem in Venice. Breakfast was pleasant though slightly limited but at least it was in the same building we were staying in.

Nearby restaurants were on Zattere or at the other side of the bridge where we also went to a Vivaldi concert in the Chiesa di San Vidal.

Room Tip: Ask about the larger rooms. We were in "Tintoretto" which had a window looking down the c...

Just stayed here in mid September. We were treated so horribly upon arrival that we should have just canceled our reservation on the spot. I confirm that we had extremely spotty internet to the point that they might as well not have it at all. Our mattress desperately needed replacement- literally was sunken in in spots - slept terribly. Bed linens appeared dirty. When i phoned the staff that night, nobody answered so we just had to deal with it. The only good things were the price and location (off the beaten path but still easy to find). Switched to a new hotel after the first night.

I wish I had felt more healthy when I arrived in Venice. My friend Sue and I had just finished a wonderful cruise, but I had been nursing a sore throat and headache for 24 hours, and after struggling through the crowd of confused arriving passengers at the cruise terminal, I was a mess. Thank heaven we had good directions from Palazzo Guardi!

And thank heaven that's where we chose to land for the next four days. Irene took charge of our luggage, gave us coffee and pastries, got us up and running on wifi, and provided maps and tourist advice. When our room was ready, my number one priority--a comfortable bed in a quiet room-- was satisfied. I barely moved for the rest of the day. Sue, on the other hand, found that we were beautifully located for seeing the sights. She made forays out to the Grand Canal, the Academmia, shops, a delightful ristorante, and the farmacia for me.

After that rocky beginning, the rest of the stay went smoothly. For all the reasons named by previous reviewers, Palazzo Guardi makes an ideal base of operations for visiting Venice. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was superb. They even helped Sue ship a box home.
