“A Gem of a Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2014

We stayed with friends on the 18th & 19th May at the Hotel Antiche Figure and had a wonderful stay. On arrival we were asked if we wanted to upgrade our rooms to canal facing rooms. We jumped at this opportunity and were delighted with our beautiful room which also had a balcony overlooking the Grand Canal. All the staff at this hotel are extremely friendly and very proficient. They are a credit to this little gem of a hotel and we would not hesitate to return. I stay at many hotels when I travel away on business and this hotel easily beats many of the five star hotels I have stayed in. Many thanks indeed to all the staff at the Hotel Antiche Figure for a wonderful and very memorably stay.

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to the canal facing rooms.

When planning out a 10 day tour of Italy with 2 friends, at first we were not even sure we could afford to go to Venice because so many hotels were sooo expensive, but decided to splurge and make the trip anyway. We found this hotel that had amazing reviews and was reasonably priced (at least compared to other Venice hotels). We arrived on the fast train from Rome and I had read in advance how daunting those stairs on the bridge could be, but we hauled our bags over and easily made it to the hotel within a few minutes. People wait at the bridge and offer to carry your bag for you for 2 euros, an offer we took them up on the way back to the train station for our departure.

Upon check-in, we did splurge for the canal view room that they offered to upgrade us to. We woke up to a beautiful clear day and a view of the canal and Alps in the background. We had 3 beds in the room , as requested. The room was bright, with windows on 2 sides that opened, clean, had instant coffee in the room, a fridge, a vanity that made 3 girls getting ready a lot easier, and a pretty spacious bathroom. Though it wasn't very hot in Venice while we were there, we did use the air conditioning and it worked great. The decor was charming and old- fashioned (in a good way). My only complaint was that the shower was a little tight if you put the curtain in the shower with you, which you had to do to avoid getting water all over the floor, but I wasn't expecting huge bathrooms in Italy. It was also very nice that our bathroom had 2 sinks.

The staff was super friendly and so helpful. One of the nicest things they did, after we had checked out, was bring down a sweater that my friend had left hanging in the closet. We had checked our and left our bags at the hotel, while we went on a gondola ride, and the housecleaning people had found the sweater and brought it down for her.

We had breakfast at the hotel both mornings and it was great with fresh-made cappuccinos and typical of the assortment of foods we found at other hotels throughout Italy (pastries, pineapples, blood oranges, apples, breads, granolaly cereal, orange juice). We also enjoyed some wine out in front of the hotel, which was very nice. Our first night, we got in late and asked if we could take some wine to our room, which was a nice way to relax after a tiring trip so far.

The best tip they gave us for getting around was follow signs to the Rialot bridge when going into the heart of the city and then change to St. Marks's signs (if that is how you are going). Then, on the way back to the hotel follow signs for the Rialto bridge, then once across the Rialto bridge you can follow signs to the train station which will you lead you back to the hotel.

Stayed here last week. The location is the best in Venice for the traveler, right on the grand canal and opposite the railway station entrance. 5mins from bus terminal.Follow signs for st marks to get into city, signs for station takes you back to the hotel.
Staff are VERY helpful and knowledgeable about the area and even allowed us to use the office computer to contact out travel company/family when our flight was canceled. They made all phone calls for us without charge even though they were very busy. Rooms are of a good size and comfortable.Tea and coffee is provided in the higher grade rooms, but we were not bothered about the absence in our room.
If you have time take the hotel offer of a free boat trip to the Murno glass Island. The boat ride is great through the back canals and then onto the grand canal and out into the open sea.
The demonstration glass blowing is short and then into the showroom and you will say how did they make that no sales pressure and boat back to St marks.
Breakfast was excellent in every way, quality, quantity and location (inside or out). Unless you ask for a canal view room the view will not be much, but this is Venice the buildings are old and squeezed in where there was room.We were to tired to look out of the window any way,but we did enjoy sitting outside with a drink. The staff are the greatest asset at this hotel followed by its location.Based on our experience we would recommend it to any one.

Room Tip: Take the free boat trip if you have time

Myself, wife and 10-year old son stayed at the Hotel Antiche Figure last week.

The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. (I had to ask for tea and coffee facilities to be brought up to the room, which was done immediately and helpfully). All of the staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. I don't recall a hotel stay where each and every member of staff were so pleasant and obliging.

By the way, the TV in the room has dozens of channels, most of them Italian, but if you keep scrolling through you eventually get three English channels! (BBC World, CNN and Bloomberg).

I'm happy to thoroughly recommend this hotel.

I can understand now why this hotel has such a high rating on tripadvisor. The staff are incrediable and go out of there way to help. The location is across from the train station making easy to find. I received excellent recommendations on resturants and sights to see. I highly recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

We arrived at this hotel after an early flight into Treviso so were able to leave our luggage whilst we went exploring as it was too early for our room to be ready. We were told what time we could come back and advised of the breakfast room times etc. We then spent a lovely day exploring the city before returning to the hotel to check into our room and enjoy a cold beer overlooking the canal - Perfect! Our rooms was typical Venetian style and very beautiful, fresh smelling and featuring a wonderfully comfortable bed and lovely clean bathroom. We didn't pay extra for a view of the canal but would have done so if we were staying longer than just 1 night. After a great nights sleep, we awoke not wanting to have to leave so soon, but we were on business and had to meet with customers at the cruise port early in the morning. We had time to grab a quick and lovely breakfast and coffee and wanted to stay for seconds, it was delicious...plus it was my girlfriends birthday that day and they brought out a lovely chocolate cake that they had taken the time to bake especially! It was great and added extra points for service and we had already been impressed by the staffs friendly and helpful nature at every step. They also advised us the fastest route (and cheapest option) to get to the cruise terminal which was a short stroll to Piazzale Roma followed by a quick trip on the people mover (only €1.30 each, bargain!) to the cruise port. This hotel is wonderful and we would love to stay here again (for longer next time) if we visit Venice again; excellent staff and service, lovely room, brilliant breakfast and a perfect location for winding in and out of the maze of streets as you explore from The Rialto to St Marks Sq and more....plus close to Piazzale Roma, opposite to Santa Lucia train station. close to the cruise port and to a vaporetto stop, so really easy to get about whether walking or taking public transport - Fab! We recommend for business and/or pleasure!
