“A wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for three nights on the recommendation of friends and on the great reviews on Trip Advisor. We had one of the most enjoyable stays in our three months in Europe.
Location, as well documented in TA reviews, iis one of the real advantages of this hotel. Whilst it is opposite to the railway station, we drove into Venice and found that the hotel is only a ten minute bag-drag from two of the major multi-storey car parking stations in the city. The only obstacle was over a connecting bridge with steps on both sides. Another location plus, was the fact that the hotel is not situated in the main tourist spots, but at the same time is within walking distance of the main tourist sites. Additionally, gondola rides are available right outside the hotel.
We had a Grand Canal facing room with wonderful views from front and side facing windows. The room was expensive, nearly 300€ per night, but when in Venice.......
The room was comfortable with Venetian decor. It was large enough for the two of us and the bathroom was clean, tidy and well-appointed.
The staff were welcoming, receptive to our enquiries and polite in their service.
With outdoor tables, it was pleasant to be able to sit outside in the afternoon, order a drink from the bar and watch the water traffic and tourists passing by.
Breakfast was more than adequate, with a range of food available. You could have breakfast either in the hotel or sitting outside.
Upon checking out, we were given a discount voucher for the car parking which we thought was a nice gesture.
Our time at Hotel Antiche Figure, whilst expensive (like most well-located Venetian hotels) was exceptional and can be summed up in three words - staff, location and atmosphere.

This is the sister hotel to the Grande Canal. Closer to the carpark, a lower star rating and in every way a poorer cousin. Yes we had a canal-side room but little help from the day staff who seemed less experienced and more interested in the computer than the people standing on the other side of the check in desk. The breakfast too was not as grande, and rather crowded. Interestingly the price we paid here was 40 euro more than the grande Canale which shows what special deals can do for accommodation staisfaction. It is a good little hotel, but just not as good as its newer sister.

Room Tip: Canal side is good

This is an excellent Hotel with staff who always had a smile and nothing seemed too much trouble for them. We were lucky and were upgraded to a suite, fabulous accomodation. Breakfast was simple but quality was good. Weather was sunny when we stayed and not a cloud in the sky which always helps. Great location opposite the station, although we travelled from the airport on the water bus, great ride in and not expensive. Very good restaurants near but go away from the beaten track. We would suggest walking because Venice is so interesting there is always something of interest around the next corner, very difficult to get lost, but the water buses are easily available. Enjoy your stay!

Along Grand Canal and front of the Station, this hotel is at the right place if you want to take the boat to to go down the Grand Canal up to San Marco Place. The service is really outstanding and the team very nice and helpful. The price is high but in line with other hotels in Venice. The room are clean and quiet. Very good address.

Room Tip: If you can have a room with the view on the Grand Canal.

Located on the grande canal directly opposite the Venice SL train station.

Stayed one night following a cruise. Upgraded to the residential suites located about 50 metres down the laneway next to the main hotel. Our suite was modern with a small kitchenette, living room with fold out bed suitable for children, main bedroom and good sized bathroom. Well maintained other than being a bit dusty.

Main hotel has a couple of dining rooms and some outdoor seating – the breakfast is a reasonable continental one with good coffee.

Staff very helpful and able to recommend nearby restaurants, activities etc as well as the best way to walk to St Mark’s and other must do’s. Nearby laundrette if you need to do some washing.

We took the ‘free’ trip to Murano arranged through the hotel and while you’ll be subjected to some hard sell on the island the glass blowing demonstration and the private water taxi ride more than made up for it!

No bargain in terms of price but excellent service and great location for train or cruise connections.

It was a great hotel that was just across the train station. So convenient. Near the water taxi stations too so you could just get the tickets and hop on to any stops including st marks square and the Rialto bridge.
Breakfast was simple and nice. The first thing the reception staff did was to orientate us and give us a map with detailed explanations. Always greeting you with warmth. They are a gem.

Room Tip: Get the rooms facing the grand canal

On arrival, the staff upgraded us to a suite. This did mean walking down an alley and the room had no view, but it was a lovely, large room, with a four poster bed. The room was cleaned well each day and breakfast was nice. Great location- bit of a walk to st. Mark's square but close to vaparetto and train station, and restaurants and shops nearby. Free wifi in the hotel which is a fantastic benefit you don't often get.
