“Very short stay in Venice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012

I have just spent a wonderful short stay in Venice, travelling on my own and meeting up with people for a day. La Forcola met with all my expectations, it was very easy to get to from water bus, or walking from the Piazale Roma, (the express from the airport or number 5 bus will take you there). I recommend the directions on the hotel's website to help you on the first day. The rooms are small but clean and it is in a lively road with shops and cafes. Turn one way to Rialto and the other to Piazale Roma. The breakfast is continental and you can fill yourself up before you go out,the only downside was no coffee in the room, there is a minibar which I didn' t open (maybe I should have). Venice is wonderful and La Forcola makes a nice economical base to explore it from.

Room Tip: I don't know what the other rooms are like, but there is a side facing the canal and some rooms...

this hotel was very well situated to use as a base, with the San Marcuola waterbus stop very nearby. The room suited our needs for the stay, and we found the hotel a pleasant place to stay in. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the rooms were kept well. Breakfasts were good and gave us a good start to the day.

Very good deal during the "carnevale". Small simple hotel, rather 2 stars not 3, but clean friendly and excelant location (2 minuts to vaporeto in grand channel, 10 min. easy walk to railway station). A good and simple resaurant in front of hotel.

As with all our reviews lets look at the good and not so good sides:

Firstly the the problem with many of the hotels in Venice is also the appeal. The large majority of hotels are built in very old and cramped buildings and as a consequence space is of a premium. You will be able to 'swing a cat' but not much more. The space available, means space in the bedroom is at a premium and even more so in the bathroom.

The staff are not unpleasant or unhelpful but not do they create a overwhelming air of welcome. They are polite and helpful but not outstanding. The breakfast is typically European; cereals, croissants, bread rolls, jams and coffee and they are all fresh, but that's the choice.

Ok so I guess that's the negative side.

On the positive side, the rooms were nicely appointed, clean and small but not tiny. We had a room on the third floor that looked directly down one of the canals, so no complaints on the view. We had friends staying on the same floor who also had a balcony. The bathroom was small but held a toilet, basin, bidet and small but powerful shower and all were spotlessly clean. All in all once you accept the size of the rooms, they were comfortable and perfectly adequate for two travelling adults.

What makes this hotel worth while? Location and and value. You're not going to break the bank and it's in a great location; neither too busy nor too far off the beaten track. Coming from the airport take the water bus orange line and dis-embark at the Pont de Guglie, you'e about 5-10 ten minute walk away.

We most certainly recommend this hotel, and would stay again. Venice is a fantastic city and you could do a lot worse than stay here.

Room Tip: Get a room on the third floor if you can. Want to see the city. You can walk pretty much everywhe...

Found this hotel to be located nicely on a small canal stop & within 5-10 minutes walking distance from the train station. The place is small and cozy but decorated up to to date. The staff was friendly and spoke English well, Only 23 rooms. I booked for solo and found my room to be typical small for Europe, but well situated with a TV, WiFi, minibar, and a walk out balcony! ( my view was of a courtyard but nice either way) Free breakfast was a typical cont-style and very good. Also, by the way, my bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Everything you want to see is nearby, its location and price make it a good stay for any traveller.

We stayed here on route to a cruise. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable, but beware of the bath. I stepped into the bath to find that the bottom was not flat, but shaped to accommodate the shower. I slipped, and it could have ended our holiday there and then! however it didn't,and we had a good afternoon and evening exploring that part of Venice. It is well located with a waterbus stop not many minutes away. The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty of variety. Our luggage was looked after while we spent the morning out before joining the cruise early afternoon.

It wasn't the Ritz, but that wasn't what I was paying for, nor did I expect. For a tourist friendly weekend, I paid $226 for two nights. In that town, that's not bad. The room was small, but it had everything I needed. The remote for the TV didn't work, but in a small room, that was no problem. I had a nice bathroom, clean bed, mini-bar and a balcony. The view wasn't spectacular, but the proximity to the vaparetto more than made up for it. The neighborhood was lively, had lots of shops and felt safe when walking in the late evenings. The breakfast was typically European and the wonderful smell of pasteries wafted through the hall in the mornings (it was included in the price). For anyone traveling on a budget with reasonable expectations, I would recommend this hotel.
