“Apartment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

The hotel is very nice and people very helpful, however. . .
If the hotel is fully book, they offer you an apartment not far from the hotel. Beware this apartment is not up to the same standards as the hotel. Good point, the bathroom is large and new. Now for the rest, we walked into the apartment to find three couches, all with curtains thrown over them to hide the stains, a note, hanging off a cabinet stating the dish washer was broken and dirty glasses in the cabinets. We also found a portable air conditioneer in the living area and a fan in the bedroom. The staircase to the apartmant and the apartment smelled.

We spoke to the manager and all he could say was what do you want for 156 euro.

The hotel was able to put us up for two of the four nights we stayed in Venice, but then we had to stay in the apartment for the balance of our stay. They did put white sheets on the couches and tried to fit them to the couches, took the sign off the dishwasher and washed the dishes. We opened all the windows to air out the smell. My husband leaned against the arm of the couch, only to have the arm fall off

I would stay in the hotel again, but beware of the apartment!

Venice is not a tourist trap, but it is a glorious travel Mecca. It's center, from San Marco north to the Canale Grande is awash with jostling humanity. Meanwhile on the Riva south of San Zacharia, anxious tour guides thurst their standards high in fear that their clients, say Carnivalites, should become irrevocably intertwined with passengers from a rival cruise line. Sadly, this is the only taste of Venice for some travelllers.

For a relaxed and rewarding experience on the water, near the gardens in a tranquil and authentic Venice, choose the Hotel Ca' Formenta. It has lovely views, attentive service, tasteful rooms. It's near good restaurants. Yet it's only one vaporetto stop beyond the Madding Crowd. And the price is right..

Room Tip: 203 is quiet with a great view of the lagoon and a soothing sea breeze.

Great room, had a wonderful view. Staff was very helpful, every one of them. The water taxi to airport was a great ride and the pick up at the hotel door was super convenient. We have stayed at this hotel before. I love how quiet the area is, and how gorgeous the view is. I love the restaurants on the street, mostly frequented by locals. Will definately stay again.

We had a lovely week at Ca Formenta. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. The view of the lagoon from our room was really good. The Via Garibaldi has a good range of shops and restaurants and is in good position away from the main tourist areas. Thankyou all for a lovely holiday.

Ca'Formenta is located at the edge of the 'hotel area' on the Via Garibaldi which makes it quiet, convenient and close to a residential area.
Of interest to Canadians is the fact that it is directly opposite the home of Sabastian Cabot who discovered Newfoundland!
To get to the hotel from the railway station you need to get the A-1 water bus which will cost you 7 Euros and you get off at the Arsenale bus-stop which leaves you about 200 yards from the hotel..
The water bus goes all the way down the Grand Canal so you get a tour of that thrown in.
To get to the airport from the hotel one walks to the Arsenale stop but catches a different Aliguna water bus for 16 Euro and it takes about an hour to get to the airport.
Alternatively you can catch a much more expensive water taxi.
NOTE: There is quite a bit of walking with luggage so make sure that the wheels on your luggage are in good order.
The hotel is fine, our room was on the small side but for a few days we didn't mind.
Staff very helpful, breakfast o.k., well-cleaned rooms.
As a bonus the cruise ships go by the hotel about 100 yards out as the hotel is on the lagoon which also means that you get a welcome breeze.
Restaurants, we enjoyed the Biennale, close by.
We would stay there again.

Ca'Formenta is located at Arsenale which is around 10-12 minutes walk from the main St Marks square. The rooms are spacious and the personnel at the reception are very friendly. It is located very near to quite a few eating areas which are very reasonably priced and a wide lane where a supermarket is located close by. An excellent location and a good choice if you are looking to stay close to St. Mark's square in Venice!!!

This little hotel is excellent, the staff are very helpfull and friendly and are willing to help you every little step of the way to make the most of your holiday in Venice. They upgraded our room for us, which we e-mailed asking if it was possible as we didnt book the superior suite when we first booked, which is a fantastic room which looks over the lagoon and also has a little balcony for you to relax on and watching the cruise ships come through morning and night is wonderful to see. This place is about an hours ride from the airport by water taxi, but its a lovely trip to see everything. They helped my fiance organise surprise champagne for us for our breakfast the morning he proposed to me, which they knew about but kept secret from me which was wonderful. The rooms are clean, and the hotel is also clean all the way through. There is air con provided in the rooms which is fab, there is also a safe which is good. The breakfast is continental and there is lots to choose from, there are also varietys of drinks in the morning. There is also a mini bar in the room, and reception is also 24hours. This little hotel is far away from the hustle and bustle, but is also close enough to it all. If your staying in Venice this is the place to stay, we certanitly will be returning here.

Room Tip: Superior Suite is beautiful as you look over the lagoon with a balcony.
