“Enjoyable stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

We had a lovely week at Ca Formenta. The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. The view of the lagoon from our room was really good. The Via Garibaldi has a good range of shops and restaurants and is in good position away from the main tourist areas. Thankyou all for a lovely holiday.

Ca'Formenta is located at the edge of the 'hotel area' on the Via Garibaldi which makes it quiet, convenient and close to a residential area.
Of interest to Canadians is the fact that it is directly opposite the home of Sabastian Cabot who discovered Newfoundland!
To get to the hotel from the railway station you need to get the A-1 water bus which will cost you 7 Euros and you get off at the Arsenale bus-stop which leaves you about 200 yards from the hotel..
The water bus goes all the way down the Grand Canal so you get a tour of that thrown in.
To get to the airport from the hotel one walks to the Arsenale stop but catches a different Aliguna water bus for 16 Euro and it takes about an hour to get to the airport.
Alternatively you can catch a much more expensive water taxi.
NOTE: There is quite a bit of walking with luggage so make sure that the wheels on your luggage are in good order.
The hotel is fine, our room was on the small side but for a few days we didn't mind.
Staff very helpful, breakfast o.k., well-cleaned rooms.
As a bonus the cruise ships go by the hotel about 100 yards out as the hotel is on the lagoon which also means that you get a welcome breeze.
Restaurants, we enjoyed the Biennale, close by.
We would stay there again.

Ca'Formenta is located at Arsenale which is around 10-12 minutes walk from the main St Marks square. The rooms are spacious and the personnel at the reception are very friendly. It is located very near to quite a few eating areas which are very reasonably priced and a wide lane where a supermarket is located close by. An excellent location and a good choice if you are looking to stay close to St. Mark's square in Venice!!!

This little hotel is excellent, the staff are very helpfull and friendly and are willing to help you every little step of the way to make the most of your holiday in Venice. They upgraded our room for us, which we e-mailed asking if it was possible as we didnt book the superior suite when we first booked, which is a fantastic room which looks over the lagoon and also has a little balcony for you to relax on and watching the cruise ships come through morning and night is wonderful to see. This place is about an hours ride from the airport by water taxi, but its a lovely trip to see everything. They helped my fiance organise surprise champagne for us for our breakfast the morning he proposed to me, which they knew about but kept secret from me which was wonderful. The rooms are clean, and the hotel is also clean all the way through. There is air con provided in the rooms which is fab, there is also a safe which is good. The breakfast is continental and there is lots to choose from, there are also varietys of drinks in the morning. There is also a mini bar in the room, and reception is also 24hours. This little hotel is far away from the hustle and bustle, but is also close enough to it all. If your staying in Venice this is the place to stay, we certanitly will be returning here.

Room Tip: Superior Suite is beautiful as you look over the lagoon with a balcony.

I traveled to Italy for 3 weeks this summer with my wife. Venice was our first stop at the end of June. We arrived in Venice via the Marco Polo Airport and opted to take a private water boat to the hotel. We arrived in about 35 minutes right at the back door of the hotel. If you chose to do public transportation, the hotel is in close proximity to multiple water taxi stops. The hotel is located right on the Grand Canal. The staff greeted us promptly and explained to us about the hotel and ways to get around the city. The staff were very helpful and spoke english so I did not have to try to use the little Italian I know to ask questions.

We had a nice room with a queen bed and a view of the Grand Canal. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was a nice size for European standards. We were very pleased with the room overall. The hotel had a bar where you could purchase drinks and they served complimentary breakfast every morning. The breakfast was very nice and consisted of coffee or espresso, juice, pastries, meats, cheeses, fruits, and yogurts. It was a great way to start the day.

The best part, in our opinion, about the hotel is the location. If you have ever been to Europe in the summer, you know how crowded it is. This hotel was just outside of the main tourist zone, so it wasn't constantly noisy and packed around the hotel. Being on the Grand Canal, it was a short 10-15 minute walk to San Marco Square, and about a half hour to Rialto bridge. We walked everywhere we went and nothing seemed too far. The restaurant is located close to many bars and restaurants, and if you walk only a few blocks you find yourself in the heart of a local neighborhood with fish markets, fruit stands, parks, cafes, and local restaurants. We spent most of our dining time on this side of the hotel and the food was amazing. Each evening we were able to sit outside on the patio with a bottle of wine and enjoy the city without having to worry about the crowds a little ways down the canal.

When we go back to Venice this will definitely be the place to stay.

Room Tip: Opt for the Canal View if available

I stayed here in early August with my partner, for 4 nights. Was a great little hotel situated just a short 10 minute walk from St Marks Square. Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke very good english. They also gave us some great advice on getting a cheap Gondola.

Room was clean and tidy, but quite small. However the size didn't really matter, as we were out mst of the time amyway. Air conditioning was really great because Venice is very hot in August. There are also a couple of great restaraunts in the area, and not far from a boat stop. The breakfast buffet was fairly basic, but had a nice selection of cold meats, cheeses, and yogurts. Would definately recommend this hotel to anybody looking a nice hotel with good value for money.

We loved our hotel, it was really small but very nice from the inside. The room was very nice, only the shower was a little uncomfortable and water used to smell bad in the shower at first but after running for sometime it used to be ok. It took around 45 minutes from the train station to the nearest station to the hotel which is Arsenale. The water public transport which we took was around 7 euro per person, the water taxi takes around 50 euros. But, the difficult part was the cross those stairs from arsenale to the hotel. We had a lot of baggage and, the stairs were too many. Which is the only drawback of this property, otherwise the location is good. Its a 10-15 minutes walking distance from St. Marks square. We loved the hotel, and will definitely return.
