“we'd stay here again, know everything in venice is expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

good location, can't be better, you're going to get lost lost lost any place you stay.

our first time to venice , two days after a cruise. this place is right on a small canal and has a front door that you get off of the water taxi from. this place is in a 600 year old building with recently renovated rooms, but don't expect renovated to mean modern, it's 600 years old after all. this hotel is very basic with the minimums of breakfast, bar, snacks to get the 4 star rating

the staff is very helpful with fairly good English

for the reviews that comment on prices, Venice is the most expensive city we've ever been in, this hotel is 220 euro a nite, and yes the private water taxi from the cruise boat was 100 euro and the one to the airport tomorrow will be 110

watch out for the small print on the bottom of the restaurant menus - "cover charge "of 2-5 euro's is per person that eats anything (drinking appears to be free) , on top of that the most tourist ones charge a 12-16 percent "service charg

Oh, also this is a cash only city, most things like the water taxis and reasonably priced eating places are cash only.

Room Tip: they say the top floor has a view of the city but we didn't stay on the top floor. half the r...

Dear Guest,

We’re very sorry that the Duodo Palace Hotel did not live up to your expectations, however it seems to us that you may have been looking for a more modern, full-featured and cheaper hotel.
Like you said, Venice is not an economy city, so people beware to your wallet when you decided to come here!
We can say that the charm and elegance of a stay at the Duodo Palace is right for some, and not the best choice for others.
Should you return again to Venice, we sincerely hope you find what you are looking for in a hotel. There are lots of great hotel choices in this city. We just happen to think that the Duodo offers an extra-special experience!

Sincerely,

An upgrade on arrival to a large room with a canal view was a perfect start to our trip. Travelling with an 8 year old means that extra space is always welcome. Staff were helpful regarding transfers and general information about the city. WIFI password was provided but only seemed to work for about half of our four night stay. My only critisim was the pillows - which were flat and hard - although i have found this throughout Italy and not just at this hotel. Very very clean room and bathroom. Mini bar fridge did not seem to keep things cold, but sufficient for our requirements.

We stayed in Duodo Palace Hotel in April of this year and can highly recommend it.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and made our short stay in Venice even better! The breakfasts were very good and as we checked out of the hotel before breakfast was served, they made us a breakfast bag full of treats for our journey home.

The location of the hotel was great (just a short walk from most of the main attractions) and it was nice and clean. Our room was nice and the bed was comfortable.

One thing I would say is plan ahead and work out your route to the hotel as it is tucked away off the main streets so quite hard to find.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

We absolutely loved this hotel just a few minutes to St Mark's square but so quiet. The room was lovely looking over the rooftops. A large room with a superb bed, haven't slept so well for years! The service was impeccable and the staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast was delicious and I have never seen a table laid so quickly. The hotel has it's own landing stage that we passed whilst on a gondola ride, it looked so inviting. We would love to stay here again.
Thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: A room near the top has lovely views over the rooftops.

Arrived in Venice by train, couldn't find anyone who knew the hotel or even the street! When we eventually got the right directions, the trek was worth it. Wonderful, lovely hotel tucked in a tiny street, with a gondola entry (if you wanted it). Staff were helpful, spoke good english, and the room was very nice. A terrific piazza close by gave us some great dining out experiences. Highly recommended.

We stayed in this hotel on recommendation from our travel agent. We won't be taking their advice again. They said catch a water taxi to our hotel. 70 euros to get their and 70 to get back for a less than 10 minute ride. Be aware the cost. Not happy....The accommodation was an issue as my husband is 6 foot tall and they put us in a room where his head touched the roof. The shower was worse. The food was average. The staff were nice

Dear Guest,

thank you for sharing your feedback from your recent stay.
We struggle to reconstruct all its inconveniences that you had during your stay at Duodo Palace Hotel.
If you’re not practice of Venice, could be very difficult to find the right way, that’s why we often suggest to take a private water taxi to reach the Hotel, even if we know that it’s not free, of course.
Moreover we can tell you that we are nothing to do with the price of a ride, they were set from the taxi drivers.

We are sorry you were not satisfied with the accommodations of your room and the condition of the breakfast.

We hope you will give us an opportunity to regain your trust.
