Tiny restaurant in a deserted square (at night) somewhat off the beaten track. Anyone spotted looking at the menu outside will be clocked by the staff and invited in.
It's absolutely tiny inside, but well-decorated and comfortable. And it's not a cheapo pizzeria or osteria - it really is a restaurant. My fillet steak and french fries were faultless. Mrs EPR's butterflied grilled chicken floated in a cold, clear, indeterminate sauce. Tiramisu afterwards seemed fine to me, but Mrs EPR's equivalent had those telltale crunchy ice crystals within. Drinkwise,no problem with the house red wine. We were inveigled into grappa and limoncella before we left, which annoyingly found their way onto the bill.
Quite a bit of emphasis on persuading punters to have fish - a dish which took far longer to arrive than any meaty counterpart. Fascinating to see the pantomime unfold when a diner asked to have his fish filleted. The waiter conducted this exercise with a spoon, leading to heap of fishy flakes on the stunned diners plate.
Some may find the staff to be overly attentive. Even more may find the bill to be surprisingly steep.
