We arrived at the end of January in time for the Carnival. Had to ask directions to the hotel as discription was not very clear. At first glance we were pleased and the staff spoke quite good english. However when we checked in we were told that we had to take breakfasts in our room. This wouldn't have been a problem if the room hadn't been so small. After a second cramped breakfast where we were told that there was no choice of juices (just tomato ugh!), the toast was something brittle out of a packet, we encountered some italian guests returning to their rooms after enjoying their breakfast downstairs. When we tried to complain the staff's english suddenly wasn't so good! We told them on the first day that we wanted orange juice and we are still waiting! The Lido itself was a great location with some good restaurants and good access to Venice itself. However avoid this hotel, the rooms are small, the beds and pillows are hard and for us it spoilt some of the enjoyment that our Venice trip should have given us.

My mom and I chose to stay at the Villa Cipro after narrowing down our choices from Tripadvisor ratings and sorting out our 3-night budget. We were extremely happy with our choice! It's a friendly, welcoming and quiet retreat of a hotel. The street that Villa Cipro is on is residential, and as it was Autumn, it had leaves on the ground - something you can only get on Lido due to the trees and proper streets. We were lucky with warm fall weather, and enjoyed our balcony off our twin room. The decor is very tasteful, and not outdated. We loved the two 'french doors' that open onto the balcony from two walls of the room! This certainly made the room feel bigger (and we saw that there are even bigger rooms available when peaking in from the hallway during the cleaning, but we were just fine with the size of ours). The breakfast is basic but enough to go on. There are enough choices of water-buses leaving from the ferry docks to get to San Marco, etc. The 10min journey is easy, and allows you to spend time in Venice and then return 'home' for dinner at one of the good restaurant choices on the main street (especially the one directly opposite the hotel that has an outdoor terrace - much better than any we went to in Venice, which were too expensive and touristy). I'd recommend this to anyone who doesn't mind a sense of adventure and easy-living on their trips.

This was a wonderful hotel. We arrived there May 31st and left June 2, 2004. Although the gentleman who worked in the evening did not speak English he was very friendly. The staff during the day was also very helpful, friendly and spoke good English. The hotel was very easy to find, just a short walk from the ferry. It is on the left hand side of the street tucked back a little. (Get better directions from the hotel). Our room had a small balcony that had a nice view. The room itself was very small guessing it was 9x10 (only wide enough for the bed and night stands) . The desk at the foot of the bed had no more than 18 inches between the bed and desk. There is an armoire in there beside the desk for clothes which is nice. The bathroom and shower were also very small but nice and clean. So if you need a bigger room make sure you state that. We found the size to be fine for us. The mattress was a little harder than we prefer. They also offer the use of a computer in the lobby. It is great to be able to watch CNN and MTV in English!!! Breakfast was ok and included in the price. The area was absolutely perfect and restaurants near the hotel were very good. I had the best homemade noodles I've ever had at a restaurant down the street from the hotel- I can't remember the name but it was the last one on the left side of the street as you're heading to the ferry from the hotel - it has an English menu available and fills up fast so get there early. I would highly recommend Lido Beach. It is quiet and only about 7-10 minutes by Ferry from Venice. It is much quieter than Venice and is beautiful to walk around. I would stay there again....in fact I loved Venice so much I will go back and most likely go back to the Hotel Villa Cipro.

This was the best hotel ever. The hotel was so beautiful and the people are so friendly and helpful. Our room was nice sized and comfortable.
Not far from anything. You can walk to the boats and takes about 7 min to venice by ferry. Stay here and you will never want to go home.
