We were NOT intrepid travellers (we are now) and I booked all our accomodation for a month in Europe based on the reviews in Trip Advisor. It was spot on for every single place. We are middle to late middle aged teachers from a small town in Northern BC so either you can relate to our commentary or not. We loved Albergo Marin (pronounced Mareen). The room was clean, attractive, super quiet and the staff were a pleasure. One particularily great aspect was that the albergo was only a few minutes (max) walk from the train station and EASY to find. This is important in Venice because we saw struggling, sweating people hauling their luggage to the other end of the city and were very thankful we didn't have to do that.
There was a laundromat two doors down and a little place to buy food not more than a few doors away. It is a great value and if we are ever lucky enough to go to Venice again we'll stay at Albergo Marin. A note, we booked in about February for a May trip.
