“Such good value for money in a very expensive city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Lisbona at the end of February and had a very positive experience. Ok the room was small but who cares when you are out and about all day exploring the delights of Venice? The service was spot on and breakfast was self service but included everything you could wish for. The decor is a bit faded but this matches the atmosphere of Venice itself. The best thing for us was value for money - for a hotel slap bang in the middle of the action you would not find anything cheaper.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for a room away from the canal!

The location is excellent, just moments' walk from St Mark's Square. There's a gondola service point just near the hotel entrance, so there are gondolas going past the canal-side throughout the day and evening - we loved sticking our heads out of the bedroom window to watch and listen.

Breakfast is served in a small area at the foot of the stairs. We never had a problem getting a table, but I imagine it could be tricky during the high season. Breakfast is good with plenty of options.

The decor is traditional Venetian, which we found charming.

On the negative side, there's no lift. We were on the second floor (third floor if you're American) and there were 41 stairs. It was OK, but we were glad we weren't on the next floor up!

A little tricky to find but with the help of a lovely local the hotel Lisbona was great. Ideal position right next to SanMarco and the centre of venice with everything within easy walking distance. Canal room overlooked lovely small canal and waking up to the sounds of venice with singing gondoliers passing your canal view room all added to what was a great trip. Rooms were traditionally venetian, staff were warm friendy and helpful although we missed reakfast every morning it smelt good and others seemed to enjoy. Highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again. We flew into trevisoand used the airport bus transfer 13euros return and excellent & reliable. (TIP: don't rely on maps in the guide books buy one at the piazza roma when you arrive)

Room Tip: Canal view worth a little extra

I have only praise for this hotel. Great location close to St Marks Square. My room was very small but comfortable and cosy, well heated with a thermostat I could control, nice bathroom, canal view as requested complete with singing gondoliers even in January! I liked the furnishings - fabric coated walls and ornate mirrors. Hairdryer, minibar. Breakfast was acceptable, with fresh rolls, croissant, cheese, cold meats, a good selection of cereals, yoghurts, juice. Fresh fruit would have been nice, but the coffee was good. Friendly staff and really helpful, friendly reception service. A bargain price for winter season. As a single woman traveller, I felt safe and completely at ease here.

Room Tip: I would suggest asking for a canal view.

This hotel is located near St. Marcus Square, less than 5 min walking. Very easy to find, (remember that Venice's streets are like a maze and are numerated in a very complicated sistem).
The hotel is very dated, (fabrics in the walls, old fashined furniture) but is confortable and you got all you need in the roonm and bathroom.
The breakfast is average(bread, cold cuts, cheese, mil, pastry, fruit, juice tea...).
In December the price is incredible cheap (for venice´s stardards), and is a good value for maney.

Stayed with a friend for 3 nights from 22 Nov 2012. What a fantastic location! Can not believe we paid so little for this hotel. Literally 3 minutes from San Marco, next door to a five start hotel, where you would pay 5 times more. The Lisbona is right on a little canal next to a Gondola station and is right in the middle of all the designer shops.

We were in room 34 (top floor, corner room, overlooking the canal) yes there is no lift and there are plenty of stairs but it's not an issue, after all Venice is all about the walking! The room was a great size, nicely decorated, very clean and had everything we needed along with a good sized, very clean bathroom.

We didn't have any problems with external noise. It was great to lean out of the window in the mornings and watch the Gondaliers chatting, setting up for the day and even having a little sing!

Breakfast was the usual croissants, bread, cold meats, cheese, cereal, fruit juices etc, perfectly nice to set you up for the day.

It's so easy to find this hotel, as it's so close to San Marco. This can make a big difference when you are trying to return to your hotel at the end of the day, Venice is a real maze, but as long as you can get to San Marco (and everyone knows where that is!) you can't go wrong.

All the staff were very friendly, polite and helpful.

Would definately stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Room 34 was a corner room on the 3rd (top) floor overlooking the canal - great sized room.

Great location - we walked wheeling our luggage from the water taxi terminal. Took roughly 10 mins but it's not all flat. Each time you cross a canal you go up and down overbridge steps.
The hotel entrance is lovely and next to a gondalier station, interesting to watch.
Our first room was extremely disappointing as the website stated canal view from all rooms. It did have an awesome marble bathroom, however, the bedroom had a double bed right up against one wall and you had to walk sideways up the other side of the bed. No view, just roof tiles and pigeons. Worst than this though was that it was on the top floor, we had to drag luggage up 5 flights of stairs and then negotiate this each time we went out sightseeing. It was a bit much for those of us fit, but not triathlete level, so I requested a lower level room and it happened that one had just became available, servicing complete, so for an extra fee we moved rooms.
We were rapt with our next room on the 3rd floor, walking space up both sides of bed. Tiny bathroom but we did not mind. The balcony can only fit one person on it at once but we were just rapt to have a balcony this was heaven! The gondaliers singing below and watching other tourists ride past sipping champagne below was so memorable. Be early for a table at breakfast! Not enough tables for guests if full.

Room Tip: I was told there is only the one room without a canal view - make sure you don't get that one, i...
