“Excellent Quiet Hotel in Venice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2012

The hotel is located in the center of Venice in a quiet residential area. We parked at the Tronchetto car park, took the people mover (1 euro) and walked about 10 minutes to the hotel. If you have a lot of luggage, then you should consider taking a water taxi or water bus to the hotel because there are several bridges over the canal you need to cross. The reception was very pleasant and the room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was small but very adequate. I read in some of the other maps about the importance of a GOOD MAP in Venice - please do this before you arrive and you will have good luck finding the hotel. The hotel is on the second story of a building, so yes be prepared to walk up some stairs to access the hotel. At reception, they recommended a couple of great restaurants (Birraria la Corte) which was packed with locals and absolutely exceptional rustic Italian food. The hotel, combined with the quiet area, offers a totally different Venice experience. We will return to this hotel on our next trip to Venice. Highly recommend.

Locanda Sant-Agostin offer a great value for a reasonable price for a city like Venice. Clean and good size room, intimate service. We had a nice view on a side canal from our balcony (see the picture). Well situated in the middle of Venice, 10 minutes walk from 2 vaporetto stops on the Grand Canal. I highly suggested that you print the plan of the immediate area of the hotel from their website, because it gives the name of every single streets, which is not the case on the maps you will buy at the touristic information.
For older people , be advise that their is a long stairway to get to the hotel level. You will need help from the staff for your luggages.
Concerning the breakfast, it is normal in a small hotel of 10-12 rooms , to get less choice than in a big hotel. To us, the choice was satisfactory.
We were very happy with our stay and we recommand that hotel to our friends.

Charming hotel close to all the sites in Venice but far enough away from the crazy tourist areas to be a bit more laid back. This was our first trip to Venice and I didn't realize just how small the city is. I was a little concerned when I booked Locanda Sant'Agostin about the location but ended up so pleased that we did. The staff was wonderful with restaurant recommendations, etc. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Its a small hotel on the second floor or a historic building. Other have mentioned the breakfast - I thought it was fine and comparable to the other (free) breakfasts that we had at other Italian hotels.

Great location in quiet but central area of Venice.
Staff were excellent and moved us to a better room on our second night. All spoke very good English.
Rooms very clean with comfy beds and effective air con (a must!)
Unfortunately our opinion was clouded by the dreadful breakfast - stale rolls and croissants, tinned fruit salad and worst of all.....the coffee. In a city and country which prides itself on great coffee the quality was disgraceful. We didn't bother on day 2 and went round the corner for a fantastic cappuccino and pastry - less than 5 euros for 2!

Locanda Sant' Agostin is a small, three star hotel. The staff is polite and very accommodating. The decor is ornate Venetian style. Our room was a good size with air conditioning and a comfortable bed. The breakfast consisted of croissants, fruit, yogurt, crackers and cheese, and cereal. The location is walking distance to the Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco. We only used the vaporetto once to get to Murano. The city is meant to be explored by walking and enjoying every twist, turn, and bridge you come across.
If you are looking for a clean, comfortable hotel within walking distance to all the wonderful attractions within Venice, Locanda Sant' Agostin is a pleasant stay.

Locanda Sant'Agostin is located in a residential area away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco. It's a good base for exploring Venice, and good value for money too. It's about 10-15 mins to Rialto bridge, and 25mins tops to San Marco. The closest vaporetto stop is San Stae which is 10mins walk from the hotel. We did not use the vaporetto that much as it was easier and quicker to walk. There is a flight of stairs up to the hotel reception (no lifts) so those with very heavy luggage might find it difficult. The room is a bit dated, with mirrors that needed changing badly but it was clean and spacious. The beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was very good. The only downside is the air conditioning, even when we set it to 5 degrees C, it was still chugging away at the same pace and the room temperature stayed the same - we estimated it to be around 25 degrees. It's probably not a good idea to stay in this hotel in the height of summer (it was 30-33 deg when we stayed). Breakfast was the usual continental affair similar across Venice hotels - croissants, bread rolls, jams, tinned fruit, soft cheese and crackers - adequate but nothing to write home about. The staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us pointers on where to visit and eat. They would ask if we needed any help with directions and maps before we set off each day.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was ideally located for us to explore the city. It is in a residential area so relatively quiet and it took us about 15/20 minutes to walk to the major sights so everything was very accessible. The staff were helpful and recommended a couple of local restaurants which were good quality at reasonable prices. The rooms were a reasonable size, clean and the bathroom modern. Venice is an expensive place but this place is worth the price tag for location.
