Booked based on the reveiws here as a surprise present for my mum and dad's Golden Wedding. The hotel people were really helpful when I booked it and made it all hassle free both via e-mail and the phone. My folks loved it when they were there and couldn't talk about it highly enough. They're that age when if they don't like something they'll certainly let you know....and they have complained about nothing. All in all the staff at the Orseolo helped make it a memorable visit to Venice for them. They were only there for 3 days but seemed to end up on first name terms with everyone!

Don't make the mistake of booking another hotel - the Locanda Orseolo is perfect! It has a wonderful location overlooking a canal, just a few minutes walk to St Mark's Square. The hotel is beautifully decorated, the breakfasts are superb and Matteo, Barbara, Bruno and Francesco are so welcoming, they really want you to enjoy your stay and can't do enough for you. We hope to visit Venice again and certainly wouldn't stay anywhere else.

We stayed for 3 wonderful nights back in Sept. 2003 and I've been feeling guilty for not writing this review sooner, that is, until I saw all the rave reviews posted by so many others. A year and a half later as I recall many memories of Venice, what stands out the most is the warmth and kindness that enveloped us at the Locanda Orseolo. Barbara, Matteo, Francesco, you fully understand the secret of success--that is, treat people with kindness and authentic hospitality as you welcome them into your incredible city. As a tourist in a new place, there is something so comforting about being greeted like an old friend. "Orseolo" refers to bears, hence the white dancing bears logo on the stained glass door, which is the only sign you will see for the hotel. White bears are a very rare and special creature, a fitting logo for a group of people who have lovingly created a rare and special hotel. Thank you from your Montana, USA friends, Jordonna and Michael. We can't wait to come see you again.

We stayed three nights in March, 2005 and felt like family -- only my family isn't that nice to me! If you are thinking of going to Venice you MUST stay here!.

I found this hotel on tripadvisor and my now boyfriend thinks I'm a genius at travel plans!
