“Good hotel, great location in San Marco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2013

Any hotel in the heart of San Marco, overlooking a canal, will be pricey. This was no exception, costing about 240 euro a night. It was a good hotel. Small but nicely equipped rooms. The shower had plenty of hot water and a full-size tub with jacuzzi jets. Our room overlooked a canal. The breakfast was typical and adequate, served 7-10:30 am. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room is a very short level walk (10 yards) from the Vaporetta stop to the hotel. Everything you want to see in San Marco is 10 minutes' walk. The canal was noisy but quiet later that evening.

Room Tip: They have twin beds if you ask. The rooms are small so you can get the beds about a foot apart.

Excellent hotel with helpful pleasant staff. Its location is only 5 min from san Marco square. Everything else is pretty much 30min pleasant walk through the tight streets of Venice. Once you are oriented with the area (and be patient as it can be frustrating) your stay will just get better. This hotel is just what you need.

This is a great little hotel in a perfect location. Stayed for 2 nights and cant fault it. Highly recommended and good value (for venice!)
breakfast really good too and served until quite late so no need for an early start. Would stay here again.

We stayed for 2 nights at this charming hotel. We were given the "Antonia" room which is a bit of a walk from the lobby but it was such a lovely and spacious room with a big window that opened to views of Venice's rooftops.

The breakfast has a lot of options and the breakfast area is lovely.

The location of this hotel is very close to the vaporetto's stop. It will take just under a minute to get to the door of the hotel.

The bed wasn't too comfortable but we slept really well since the room is located on the top floor and was the only room at that level.

Room was always clean and Mario was very helpful especially with our luggage:)

Had a great stay here for 3 nights. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There was great variety of foods available for breakfast and delicious hot chocolate if you ask. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from San Marco and central to everything. There is also a vaporeto stop just a few steps from the front door. Venice is so expensive but this hotel was one of the more reasonable ones and worth the money for it being so central. I would recommend this one for families as we stayed in a triple room and had loads of space with three big suitcases and two kids and one adult!

We are on the start of our 5 week european tour and have had 2 nights at Ala. We arrived to giglio via water taxi (?60 although he took ?50 as he had no change.)
Ala is a fantastic place for the price. Be sure to book a room that backs onto the little canal and bridge. Really quite special. Wifi for ?1 /24hrs is pretty good too. Breakfast was great as were all the staff.
Location is excellent near san marco, SM Giglio water bus and not far from all'academia.

We booked this hotel on recommendation for its central location, reasonable price and good facilities. It did not disappoint. Our classic room, although small was definitely adequate and exceptionally clean, as was the bathroom. Our room looked out over the side of the hotel and we could see the little bridge over the canal. It was quiet and well placed for walking to all the sights, ie St Marks Square and was close to a vaporetto stop. Although not offering dinner there is a restaurant just near the front of the hotel and others just a short walk away. The breakfast is adequate and varied with the usual fruits, yohurts, meats and cheese, etc as well as scrambled egg and sausage all served buffet style until 10.45am.
The staff are very pleasant and helpful and only too happy to oblige with any request.
This was an all round good choice.

Room Tip: I understand some rooms do not have a window so be sure to check this out when booking.
