“Do yourself a favor, do not stay here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

Double booking is their business : you will get to their sisters hotel... how far do they take a tourist? Are we that stupid??? I hate hotels like that, just hate this kink of running us like if we were children. Never again will they have me here. And the staff was so impolite, do not stay here. I had 42 people ready to book here for the upcoming months, as I was traveling undercover to discover new business. That shows the professionalism of the staff, they should know better to whom they are talking to.

Two years ago I booked to stay at the Marconi and payed in advance. When we arrived we were excited about the location unfortunately we were deceived. We were told that we had to go to the sister hotel just a few minutes away because of some damage to a few rooms. Alarm bells went of as after booking a read more reviews about the hotel only to read that on a number of occasions people had been sent to the sister hotel. I was concerned but having already paid hoped that they would be honourable and not send us elsewhere. Well we had no choice and with their assurance the other hotel is just as good and very close. How may lies can they tell and not be embarrassed. The sister hotel was about 20 minutes walk at a very brisk pace almost a run and stuck out in the middle of nowhere. The list of problems is to great to detail all I can say is that any one looking for a hotel do yourself a favour and AVOID this one.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

This is a basic clean hotel. The breakfast was good and the service from the staff was good. The aircon didn't work but the weather was cool so we didn't really need it. Close to all key attractions. Be prepared to walk up stairs there are no lifts. No wi-fi.

We stayed here in July 2013 for the second time on our wedding anniversary trip to Italy. Stayed here last year and thoroughly enjoyed the location. We requested the first floor front bedroom with the balcony (just under the Hotel Marconi sign) and could not be happier with the room. Great size and with a good size bathroom and the view of the canal whilst lying in bed was the best. Yes, the hotel is old and can be a bit smelly at times, but it is Venice and the age of the buildings and the constant flooding is all part of the charm. Could not fault the service by the staff, always helpful. Wifi worked in the bedroom. The cost for the balcony room at the front is expensive but when you may never come back again it was worth the cost for the view. Although busy outside, once the balcony doors were shut the noise was gone. Beds hard as are all beds in Italy! Great location.

We have just stayed 2nights in the Marconi and like the other reviews say the location is perfect! The hotel for us was fantastic value. We payed around £120 per night, and yes in any other city in the world I'd probably be disappointed with what we got for that price but it is at true Venetian style and I'm glad we payed a bit more to stay so centrally in this amazing city. Staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was lovely. As long as you don't go expecting to stay in a palace you won't be disappointed :-)

This hotel is located just by the Rialto Bridge - perfect location. However, the hotel is old and rooms are small which I think is typical in Venice. Its furnishings are old and needs to be updated. The lobby could have been brightened a little bit with some better lighting.

Breakfast is continental and also include hot breakfast items which is the same every day. If you don't mind the "oldness", this is a good hotel to stay in Venice. Make sure not to pack huge heavy suitcase though since you have to carry that suitcase and cross the Rialto Bridge. The vaporetti stop is across the hotel. We packed hand-carry suitcases so it was not too bad.

Stayed here in July 2013 the best thing about this hotel is its location right next to the Railto Bridge the heart of Venice. Other than that the staffs were just ok not friend as usually should be in the tourism business. The internet worked only in the front lobby. The building is wearing down so it is in need of a revamp.
