The hotel Al Vagon is well located for arrival from the airport as down the streets (15min) from the Fondamente Nove water bus stop. Also within walking distance from all main attractions. 2 busy main streets around with loads of shops, restaurants and pasticcerias. Our room gave onto a small and quiet canal, really appreciable! It was massive for the two of us clean and serviced daily. No internet, no kettle and no breakfast but the location and peacefulness still close to everything did the trick for us. The great price is also to consider!

Hotel Alvagon is situated in a quiet zone, but walking distance from Rialto and St Mark's Square. Gondolas are around the corner, the vaporetto (Rialto and Cà D'oro stations) are near. Lovely restaurants, and cichetterie in the neighbourhood. The very basic rooms are clean and serviced daily.We stayed for three nights and it is good value for money. Cheap and clean.

Hotel Al Vagon is a five minute walk after you diembark from the water taxi. Located in the heart of venice you will find yourself within minutes of all tourist attractions. The room were well done although a tad small. The down side ...no elevators so travel light!!

We stayed at Al Vagon in Venice at the end of Oct for two days. My daughter and husband and their son (age 9) stayed as well and all enjoyed it very much. I was a bit concerned about the hotel due to the mixed reviews. The location was wonderful and easy to reach. It is a clean, modest and comfortable hotel and well worth the money. The owner was pleasant and respectful. As others noted the beds are harder than what we are used to.
It really should be a higher star rating. When we left we walked to the train station with our luggage. It was a 30 minute slow walk. This was a bonus. It allowed us to see a part of Venice that we would not have seen and each bridge provided a new view.
