“Great Place - Great Deal!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We stayed at Al Vagon in Venice at the end of Oct for two days. My daughter and husband and their son (age 9) stayed as well and all enjoyed it very much. I was a bit concerned about the hotel due to the mixed reviews. The location was wonderful and easy to reach. It is a clean, modest and comfortable hotel and well worth the money. The owner was pleasant and respectful. As others noted the beds are harder than what we are used to.
It really should be a higher star rating. When we left we walked to the train station with our luggage. It was a 30 minute slow walk. This was a bonus. It allowed us to see a part of Venice that we would not have seen and each bridge provided a new view.

Room Tip: We had a double with a balcony over the canal. This is precious and only cost a few extra Euro.

Medium sized room with beautiful Venetian decor, air con, sml and awkward bathroom, clean, friendly staff, no wifi. Great location as its close to Rialto bridge, shopping and restaurants. Can be a little noisy at night time. Recommended

This place was easy to find and the staff was helpful. Don't be fooled by the walk through the alley and into the dark entrance way. It turned out the room was very pretty and was overlooking the square. The room was decorated nice, but the bed was very hard. After a long day in Venice, any bed will do! The bathroom and shower were clean and modern.

We choose this hotel for its location and that turned out to be a good choice. We took the waterbus from Marco Polo airport and entered at Rialto Bridge. Not even a walk for 5 minutes to the hotel. It lays between San Marco area and Cannaregio and everything is very near by. We had a small, basic, clean room with a view on a small canal, very nice. As said before by other visitors, the bed is hard as a rock, if you have back problems, look for another hotel. But if you're staying for only a few nights and have a good condition, it is a recommended hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the canal side have lovely view.

Agree with previous reviews. Just tried pot luck with this and turned out fine. Myself and 2 sons in 1 room, double and a single with balcony overlooking canal, approx 200 euro for 2 nights. Bed hard as a rock, ditto pillows.but hey...you get what you pay for...clean...shower ok..etc small TV
Got a group water taxi from airport to near hotel, Apostoli bridge, easy to find with hotels website directions. Centre of town all good. Al Vagon restaurant below a bit overpriced for what you get.
All in all ...no complaints..it Is Venice which generally = $$

Room Tip: overlooking canal was unique..

One of the cheapest hotels in the center of Venice. It is walking distance from Rialto Bridge, The area is full of hustle and bustle.Small, clean and cosy rooms. The staff is helpful but no facillities like internet, coffee or breakfast...

Room Tip: While booking, ask for windows facing canal view.
