“Great Restaurant”

My husband and I ate here on our first night in Venice. The steak and ricotta ravioli with butter sage sage was delicious. Good service and nice outdoor seating.

“Nice little restaurant on a small canal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

We really enjoyed this restaurant. It was on one of the small canals near the Grand Canal in the Santa Croce area of Venice. Our dinners were great. We had fresh sardines, and I had veal with mushrooms that was great and my husband had lamb chops with artichokes that were also wonderful. We had a delicate lime creme brûlée for dessert that was also really good. We really enjoyed our dinner here.

“Late Night Dinner”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

Excellent Santa Sofia red, with a scampi starter and prosciutto. Main dish seafood special and squid. Food was average but nothing to the other restos which we ventured to.

“"12.5% service charge on top, when the service is average at best””
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014

If you enjoy average this is for you!
We eat here on our last night only because it was close to the hotel and looked OK from the outside, started with 2 gin and tonic whilst looking at menu chose sardines in sour and five king prawns in a cream and basil mouse, main course Pork Milanese and Veal fillet with mushrooms and a portion of potatoes accompanied with a bottle of Santa Sofia Amarone 180 Euro with the 12.5% service :-( Just bang average all round fillet was OK Milanese was dry starters over priced wine was ok but no way worth that a mount of euro’s as we eat in Ostaria da rioba ;-))) the night before had a lot more and far better quality with excellent service for the same money.

“"Very good meal, nice music, and good service!"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

We were in Venice in mid-March with our tour group traveling with Gate 1 Travel to different areas of Italy. We had been over to Piazza San Marco, rode the gondola ride with music and was working our way back over to our hotel when we stumbled across this ristorante. We had reviewed it previously on TA and had information on it. When we came across the ristorante, we were sort of surprised to see it was already open for the evening and looked at the menu on the outside of the Cafe. We told the gentleman we would be back soon. After going to our hotel to change clothes, we came back to Ca'Leon for dinner. It is located down the Piazza la Rome on a small canal with awnings advertising the name. There are several small tables outside but we chose to eat inside and experience the atmosphere!
There is a nice bar in the front of the ristorante and enjoyable music was playing. The waiter was friendly and helpful to advise about some of the wines. We ordered several glasses of the house sweet wine, the mixed salad and the spaghetti with tomato sauce and basil. Bread was also brought to the table in a small basket. The service was not over bearing and friendly.
This was our second night in Venice and we wanted to try this ristorante and glad we found it.
