This is a wonderful boutique hotel. We could not fault it. Comfortable, peaceful, v clean and smartly furnished. Also conveniently located for exploring Venice by foot or on the vaporetto.
Location: Located on a lovely Venetian Street with fruit and vegetable stores outside, a fabulous bar opposite and a choice of restaurants in strolling distance. This area is much more relaxed than the areas around St Marco. It is v safe to walk around and you will see lots of local families out and about doing their shopping. We explored mainly on foot but also purchased vaporetto travel cards as it is a five minute walk to the grand canal. The airport vaporetto stops at Guglie which is just a 2 minute walk around the corner from the hotel.
The staff: Luigi and his team are polite and friendly. They make you feel very welcome. They are passionate about their city and will offer lots of advice and recommendations on places to eat / drink / visit. They will happily make table reservations /phone to check opening times etc.
The room: We booked a junior suite, a good sized room, tastefully and comfortably furnished, spotless clean. V quiet and had good quality blackout curtains. Room came with complimentary tea & coffee making (inc herbal teabags) / dressing gowns / slippers / hairdryer / sewing kit / toiletries /free Wi-Fi. It has a mini-bar / fridge plus flat screen tv (though only BBC world avail in English). The bed is super king-sized and very comfortable with good quality bed linen, quilt and pillows. The room has air con and adjustable temp control. The bathroom was spotless - with a lovely deep bath and rainfall shower. Our only comment is that there is not much closet space - however this did not bother us as our stay was for two nights.
Breakfast: Served in the main lounge / dining room, v relaxed with a gorgeous Venetian glass chandelier giving the wow factor. Lots of choice including the gorgeous glazed pastries and rich chocolate cake (Yes, Venetians really do eat cake for breakfast). Cereals / continental / toast / yogurts and fruit all avail. Coffee / tea / freshly squeezed juices and espresso's. Delicious.
Hotel tip: Ask the staff for bar / restaurant recommendations as they really know their Venice. They will produce a map giving you information on the food on offer and the prices and will offer lots of tips and advice. Bring a tablet or laptop to make use of the free Wi-Fi. We found it invaluable for looking up vaporetto times / working out opening times etc…
