“Great price for the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2014

The staff was helpful, the location was excellent, the price was wonderful, the rooms were spotless. My only complaint is the shower, it was in very poor condition. Overall great experience and I would stay there again.

I had an amazing experience in Hotel Messner. The room was good and really clean. The shower a little small but that didn't bother me. The A/C worked really well. Location was a but far from the train station but close to a water bus and tourist attraction. The staff were extremely helpful and kind.

We visited as a family during the half term break. It was a return visit to Venice and this hotel for my husband and I, but for our adult children it was a first visit. The Hotel Messner is perfect if you want a quiet place to retreat to after the hubbub of the tourist trail. It is based near the 1& 2 Vaporetta stop at Salute making it a joy to walk to and from the bus. This also proved handy for an early departure on the Saturday as the No. 2 terminates at the bus depot. The staff are very friendly, the breakfast more then adequate and the rooms comfortable and clean with Morano glass, brocaded walls and marble very much in evidence in the old part. The Messner is based a short walk away from the old gondola boatyard on S.Trovaso. I can honestly say we would all go back both to the city and this hotel tomorrow. Enjoy Venice!

Room Tip: Ask for the old hotel if you want the authentic Venetian shutters with muslin hangings and either g...

We eventually found the entrance to reception after a couple of minutes as the hotel is in I think 3 separate buildings. We were shown to our room in the annex on the top floor shortly after.
The room was basic but that's all we needed as we planned on being out as much as possible to make the most of our time in Venice.
The breakfast in the morning was fine with a selection of foods to suit most tastes.
The location of the hotel is very good being a short walk from the Zattere Alilaguna stop. It is also a very quiet area away from the busier areas such as San Marco, although it is just a short walk to Accademia where you can cross to the busier side of Venice.
The last night there was marred slightly by the other rooms in the annex being used by a group of extremely noisy school children who were banging and crashing around for a while.

After arriving from the train station we were quite eager to drop our stuff off and wonder around beautiful Venice. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come and check us in. We were then guided to another part called the 'annexe' which was a couple of buildings down the road. We were given the key and told that our room was at the top of the stairs, this was fine, we both had small bags and happy to find the room. The room was nice, but the uncomfortable beds and the broken shower let it down. The view was of a building opposite but if you crammed your neck enough you could catch a glimpse of the canal. Again we weren't planning on staying in the room that much so that did not bother us.

The hotel smelt clean and the other staff were friendly and greeted us each morning. Breakfast was nice until using the juice dispenser produced 6 ants in my orange! The buffet consisted of cereal, pastries, cake, fruit, ham and cheese, even some chocolate Easter egg.

Apart from the bed we both slept well, very quiet location and within easy reach to the water taxi's airport boat connections and restaurants we were happy.

I stayed here for 2 nights and when I got there I was looking for office for 10 min, until cleaner lady said it's in 2 buildings over. if you have heavy luggage like me then your about to get workout of your life, very narrow stair way and hall. for single person or couple its fine but if you are family I wouldn't stay here. And make sure you ask them you need water view not the wall which I got and they said this is only room available, bs. And breakfast it is very simple, break-sweet bread-ham-sausage-cheese-coffee-juice, that is it, for that much money I expect little bit more.

Room Tip: if you take alilaguna from airport it is 10 min walk from station to the hotel, which is hard if you...

I think the S must have fallen off the sign to this Hotel as it's more like a hostel... We weren't shown to our room, we were left at the front door of a building about 100 metres away from reception. The long dark corridors and stairs took us to our room. The walls are covered in dark red material that matched the dark red bedding and the dark red carpet. The dark red curtains were pulled across the window that had been parcel taped shut with masking tape due to the handle not working so it was a Godsend that we had a 'type of ' safe so that we could store our valuables just in case someone decided let themselves in through the unlocked window !!! We did not complain as the room was clean and the bedding and towels changed daily however after a night where we were cold due to the open window we did mention the problem... The man on reception advised he would have it mended while we were out....... and he did mend it by removing the faulty handle and adding even more tape !!! I didn't mention the bathroom light that didn't work as his demeanour was not all that friendly.... maybe he had run out of tape by then! We didn't let this ho'S'tel ruin our experience of Venice because nothing could do this....... I will return to Venice but leave this place to the backpackers !!
