“Great Location...nice rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Everywhere in Venice is overpriced especially if you can see water but the rooms here are very nice and the staff were helpful. Dorsoduro is the best area in Venice as it's less touristy and more trendy. The hotel was near a water taxi so easy to get anywhere. I would recommend.

Room Tip: Get a room on the front or if want cheaper side view is nice as well...if you're a light sleeper...

Nice that it's not in the middle of the tourist area. Lovely breakfast in beautiful surroundings both inside and out. Clean and neat apartment, lovely air conditioned! Very friendly staff. Absolutely perfect simply and very nice price!

A charming appartment, in a quiet and very nice area of Venice (felt like living in a private appartment), only 10 minutes walk to St Mark's Square. Good breakfast and a perfect location of the hotels outdoorresturant - right on the river! The ferry stops 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Quiet area. Many people walking around at all times but not as crowdy as other parts of Venice.

I very much enjoyed my visit here. It is quaint and homey. From the train station you hop on the ferry and go to the "Zaterre" stop. From there it is a short few minutes to the right. Very easy for someone with luggage to get to. You are there when you see a staircase...it is right before the steps. Inside, the small comfortable Lobby is like someone's living room. You do have to go up a staircase to get to the rooms but for most it shouldn't be a problem. The rooms are filled with antique furniture. Being right on the water makes it very special. We did not eat supper there but they do have indoor and I believe outdoor dinners. We ate one breakfast outside on a floating restaurant and one breakfast in the dining room. Both were good . It is a nice history filled walk to San Marco but a bit confusing so look for the signs on the sides of the buildings to guide you. Venice seems to have another neighborhood square around every corner but there is no mistaking San Marco once you find it. Charming and historic descibe both La Calcina and Venice!

The first thing to say about this Hotel is that its location is perfect, 50 yards from a Vaperetto stop and 5 minutes from the Accademia Bridge. We have stayed here for a number of years. The Staff without exception are polite and helpful and have changed very little over the years. The outside restaurant is on a decking on the Giudecca Canal and on days with decent weather is absolutely perfect. On the downside is the lack of a lift in the Hotel and if there if is a weakness on the menu is that the "meat dishes of steak and vitello" are not that good, but as it's Venice the fish and pasta meals are excellent.

Room Tip: First Floor

It is difficult to pick a room based on reviews. After having stayed here I can tell you all that this hotel is worth the money. It is well located to the action. It is on the water. It has a lovelyrestaurant on the water with a great breakfast. The rooms are well appointed and quiet. There is a frig in the room. It is seconds from the vaporetto and walking distance for even lazy folks like me to St Mark's. The staff is helpful. The cost is worth it. I say....stay...you won't be disappointed.

Although the room is not big and pricely, but with the magic view over the canal made it worthwile.
The service was excellent and breakfast was good. Even having lunch or dinner on the terrace was magnificant, very good food and. Romantic.
After 3 days we even prolonged our stay.

Room Tip: If you can afford choose a room with a canal view, highly romantic
