“Breath taking view from room #9”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2007

The best view in all Venice. When my husband and I arrived we were inially in a different room with not the best view, however when we were moved to room #9 it took our breath away. Affordable Excelence. Don't mind the slanted floor or the furniture arangement, just swing open the shutters to view the Grand Canal. The complimentary warm marmalade filled croissants in the morning are the best! Great location and staff.

We stayed at Galleria Hotel for 2 nights during Carnavale weekend. Unfortunately we were put in their dependence which is located about a block away and has not much to do with the descriptions we read on Trip Advisor, which had made us choose this hotel. The dependence has 2 apartments which share the same entrance. Our room was a studio of good size: it was very basic, no view, thin walls (we could hear the neighbors come in and out and talk) but it was clean. This said, for the price we paid, we couldn't complain and the main hotel does looks cute, the location is good and the staff friendly. In previous visits we stayed at the Bauer (5 stars) and Ala (3 stars): both were better experiences but we still have to find our 'refuge' in Venice.

  • Liked — the size of room
  • Disliked — the dependence has no decor or charm

Hotel galleria is not only my favorite place to stay in Venice it is one my favorite places to stay in all of Italy. It is a small hotel (only 10 rooms) no more than 10 feet away from the Grand Canal and right at the base of the Accademia Bridge. If your going to be out of your room from the time you awake until the time you go to sleep then it won't matter where you stay, but if you want a room with a view in a nice hotel that want cost you a king's ransom then Hotel Galleria is the place. For my money there is no better view in Venice at any price. Rooms 5 -- 10 face the Grand Canal, rooms 7-- 10 have private baths. The first time I stayed there was in 1991 and my wife and I have returned 22 times. we are headed back in May for our 24th visit and bringing relatives with us. The earlier you book the better chance you have of getting a room.
Have a great trip where ever you go, Rick Larkin

We stayed at the Galleria in October. The staff was wonderful, clean rooms and bathroom, not to mention the excellent localtion. It is close to everything: vaporetto stops, San Marco, everything. Great value!

I'd read the other reviews on this site and booked this hotel for a few days with my husband but to be honest, I was pretty disappointed. Although we'd specified a double, the room was was absolutely tiny, and we could barely squeeze around the side of the bed! The decor was really tired and shabby, and although we're both average size (not fat!), we could hardly fit into the tiny loo, let alone shut the door. The only saving grace was the view outside our window, straight on to the canal, but if you're not too bothered about waking up to this, I wouldn't recommend the place. I'd say there are other hotels in a similar price bracket, especially if you're going out of season and can negotiate, that would offer a lot more than the Galleria.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2006

we´ve stayed on Hotel galleria in December after a hard search over the internet.. Everything was booked.. well at least at reasonable prices.. This was an exception.
We stayed for 3 nights and although we had to share the bathroom with other 8.. rooms.. (sounds quite scary) everything went very well! The bathroom was always very clean, the room was confortable, warm, and was exactly what we expected, a nice room in the city center with a view to the canal!
The staff was also very nice and help us several times. The breakfast was served in the room at the exact time we wanted to.. (well untill 10am) and had milk, and tea, croissants, yogurt, bread.. it was really perfect.

I would defenitly go there again..

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Galleria for 3 nights in March 2006, and had a lovely experience. The highlights are the great canal views and the delicious continental breakfast delivered to your room each morning with the best hot chocolate I've had-very romantic and included in the reasonable rate! One caution, we stayed in Room 1, right next to the bell desk, and could hear every conversation. However, when we mentioned it to the staff, they clearly made an effort to have people keep their voices down. Would recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable, welcoming, and affordable room with a great location within easy walking distance of all the main attractions.
