“Well positioned,charming and friendly.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Hotel Flora is well positioned, only a very short walk to the "must see" attractions.
It is also close to two vaporetto stpos, to make getting around easy.
The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms atmospheric and comfortable.
The breakfast is sensational, and the dining room / parlour is a lovely place to have a night cap at the end of each day.The small courtyard is a bonus, for a quiet sit and read, or glass of wine, while you catch your breath from exploring the overwhelming beauty of the city.
It is well worth venturing into the areas beyond the centre, we enjoyed them much more, for the small artists and craftspeople in their studios and stores, and the backstreet restaurants, much more authentic, and cheaper than around San Marco. We look forward to one day going back to Venezia, and staying again at Hotel Flora.

Room Tip: Room sizes vary, and some look over the courtyard, but all are well firnished and comfortable.

We stayed here in May for 3 nights. This place has the best location. Close to the San Marco ferry stop, so was easy to carry our luggage to the hotel. Easy to find unlike many other hotels. Close to amazing restaurants and shops and San Marco Square. All the staff were very friendly and happy. The courtyard was beautiful and the breakfast was nice. Our room was a standard room, small but comfortable and clean. The owners have paid particular attention to detail in everything in the room which was really nice. Loved the dark wooden shutters on the windows which guranteed a good nights sleep in complete darkness. Would definitely stay here again if had the opportunity to visit Venice again. Love love love.

Stayed here for 3 nights in April. Lovely traditional small hotel situated down an alleyway not far from San Marco and very close to the shops. What really makes this hotel are the staff. Very welcoming, friendly and you always felt that nothing was too much trouble. Lovely courtyard at the rear of the hotel where you could have breakfast, weather permitting. Breakfast very good and the staff very attentive. We had a room on the second floor which was fine. The only downside was the size of the bathroom, very compact, tight squeeze to get in the shower. A lot of the larger hotels should take a visit to Hotel Flora to see what a difference exceptional service makes. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay special.

Room Tip: Room 11 has very small bathroom, shower only,

Dear Guest,
I must tell you that in this review you mention something which makes me, my family and all the staff really proud. When I read that a lot of the larger hotels should take a visit to Hotel Flora to see what a difference exceptional service makes, I was really touched.
Thank you for choosing the Flora for your venetian experience!

I stayed with a friend for 4 nights in mid April 2013. This was my second stay there, having taken my now 18 year old when he was in 3rd grade. The hotel was exactly as wonderful as I remembered. Not a long walk from the #1 Vaporetto stop at San Marco, the hotel is down a short alleyway with a welcoming, pretty entrance. It just gets better. The staff is Soooo accommodating, friendly, cheerful ( none of that surliness you can get sometimes from jaded hotel workers) The interior is unique and charming. The courtyard is pea gravel with a dribbling fountain, cute tables and chairs with pretty pink linens, delicious coffee with hot steamed milk or a mix your own hot chocolate ( a pot of chocolate and a pot of steamed milk) that you will definitely have to walk off! If the courtyard is not open, the salon is also quite cute with painted ceilings and cozy chairs. The breakfast is huge. There is a very small ( 3 stool) bar open till fairly late at night if you want a nightcap, but you can always take your drink in the salon or garden. While I can't say enough about the charm of this hotel ( the location is perfect also...about halfway between San Marco and Accademia Bridge, near shops ( high and low end) ( check out the reasonable , unframed watercolors at nearby PETRA) ...it is truly the staff who are the stars of this show. I will tell you that you will feel SAFE here, whether a family, couple, two women or a mother with children.

Room Tip: My friend travels o a budget, so when she said she wanted to go to Italy with me I said "fine...

We enthusiastically recommend Hotel Flora as a traditional, welcoming, and comfortable Venetian hotel that takes fine care of its patrons. We stayed at the Flora for five nights in April 2013. It’s a short walk from the Alilaguna San Marco Giardinetti stop (Blue line) coming in from Marco Polo airport and is pretty easy to find. Keep an eye out for the Hotel Flora sign signaling the turn into the entryway to the hotel. The gentlemen at reception were cheery and kind to us newcomers to the city trying to figure their way around. “Gentlemen” because this applies to all of the staff from downstairs that we met during our stay. Our room was terrific – clean, neat, and with a view over the city rooftops and down into the garden courtyard below. It was absolutely quiet each evening, but if you left your window open little Venetian chirpy birds would announce the mornings. Our maid timed her service perfectly every day. No early morning knocks on the door, and the room was always fresh and arranged whether we dragged back from our explorations in the evenings or earlier for an afternoon nap. The caretaker of the breakfast room was a favorite. He was always happy and accommodating and prompt with a wake-up cappuccino (which by the way, gets top marks from us coffee-lovers from Washington State USA). The breakfast buffet included meat, cheeses, rolls and croissants, butter and jams, juices, some sweets, fruit salad, whole fruits, cereal and granola, and yogurts. Our room was on the top floor, but each morning at 7AM we could smell the loaves of fresh, warm rye bread inviting us downstairs. The WiFi worked fine in our room, and we used Skype for video calls back to the states to check on family and pets. All in all, a wonderful stay. Many thanks to the Hotel owners and staff!

The more you see of Venice, the more you will appreciate the Flora's dignity, calm, and the namesake garden, where the nice breakfast is served (weather permitting) in a peaceful retreat from the tourist maelstrom. The tucked-away location makes for a quiet night, yet is relatively easy to find and very close to St Mark's Square. Venice overall is about three times more expensive than the average city, be prepared.

Stepping out of the train to see a vast body of water we were thrilled by our first trip to Venice. Hotel flora is a beautiful hotel tucked down a narrow courtyard near the San Marco stop. We felt like we were in a different world . The front desk staff were wonderful. They suggested great places to eat and the hotel breakfast was plentiful and staff was friendly . Location was great too . Minutes walk to San Marco square and doges palace
