“Bijou beautiful and friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

We have just returned from a very hot and sunny weekend in beautiful Venice. Very hot and crowded but the crowds did not detract from the stunning views. Hotel bucintoro is a gem in Venice it is located right by the canal side minutes from st marco square and the attractions. It is a small hotel but run so efficiently and is very clean (and I am picky) it has a lovely warm feel to it and we were made to feel welcome. It was so quiet at night we slept so soundly we did not wake up until 10.30 am very restful and comfortable. I asked for an adaptor to plug my straighteners in and it arrived within minutes as did the extra tea and milk. I would stay here again x

Room Tip: We were in 406 at the top and was very quiet

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in May in the corner room on the second floor. Just breathtaking panoramic views of St. Mark's and up the Grand Canal. We spent two evenings sitting at the window with a bottle of wine. The room was comfortable size, well decorated and immaculately clean. The service was also great. Location is an easy 10 minute walk to St. Mark's and 1 minute walk to the water bus. Stefano and others at the front desk were all great as well. They gave us recommendations on food, avoiding crowds, and arranged our water taxi to the train station when we left - they were aware of our departure in the middle of the Regatta and advised us the appropriate arrangement without us even asking. Just great all around.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for two nights in one of the corner rooms and we couldn't have picked better! Less than 5 minutes away from the ferry, and a minute or two more away from the main plaza. Extremely easy to find as it is along one of the main canals and in a quieter locality so not crowded but still extremely close to the main sites - Our room was furnished with a pleasant nautical feel, had an amazing view of the harbour and Palazzo Ducale.

Also found the continental breakfast absolutely great - cosy place to eat and has a gorgeous view of the harbour outside - amazing start to our mornings in Venice!

Spent 3 nights at Bucintoro in May. There is nothing negative to say about this place. Location was perfect. Easy walk to and from Piazza San Marco yet still away from the maddening crowd. To get to the hotel from airport we took a private water taxi, yes its expensive, 110 euros to be exact but we were really tired after a 6 hour layover in Dusseldorf, Germany and with the taxi we were at our hotel in 25 minutes. The blue Alilaguna line would work perfectly if one is willing to sit on the boat for 1hr and 15 minutes for Aresenale stop. The Arsenale stop is very convenient for the number 1 bus line. We had a 48 hr waterbus pass that we used many times to give a break to our tired feet. Venice requires walking, lots of it so take comfy broken in shoes. There is COOP (supermarket) only 5 minutes away in the opposite direction.

We had room 304, a beautiful corner room with views to die for. Could see straight through the window all the way to San Marco from our bed, nothing can beat that. Room was spotless and a decent size compared to European standards. Nice wood floors, modern marble bathroom and really good shower pressure. Looks like they have given thought to every traveller amenity in the room and at this hotel. Even umbrellas for use right next to the main door. If they can improve one thing I would suggest get rid of the blankets and replace with comforters. Good hotels do not do blankets with sheets anymore.

Their staff is excellent, very friendly. Must mention Giancarlo at the front desk who checked us in and gave us many useful suggestions. Also there is a lady at breakfast, sorry do not remember her name who is very pleasant. Ate two nights at a restaurant nearby called Trattoria da Johnny. If you like seafood this restaurant will not disappoint. Venice is a magical place and Bucintoro made it all the more special for us. Ciao.

Beautiful corner room decorated in old time maritime theme. Best view of lagoon and St Marks Cathedral. Good price for booking non refundable and early. Excellent breakfast included. Staff treated us perfectly. Only spent two days waiting for cruise ship so splurged on jr suite. Well worth it.

Room Tip: Spend the extra on a corner room with St Marks and Lagoon views

Love this hotel! Great location! On the river and just one block over from crowds. Easy walk to all sights. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast to get you going in morning. Our view was amazing overlooking street and river. Would return definitely and recommend to anyone going to Venice!

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. We were relocated to a hotel about one bridge closer to San Marco for one night due to a clerical error but were offered free upgrade for the rest of our stay in a corner suite with breathtaking view of the venetian lagoon. The hotel is very well kept and the staff is helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is a bit lacking but is enough for anyone to fill up for the day given the price of eating in Venice.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a conveniently located hotel with excellent services.

Room Tip: Junior suite corner unit offers excellent view
